Carnival 3rd green zero on roulette wheel?

Sorry I keep asking questions but I saw this over on the gambling forum on here and figured it was specific enough to CCL to warrant posting over here. This forum seems to get more traffic so maybe I can get an answer faster.

Is it true that they've added a 3rd Green Zero (B) to the roulette wheel on Carnival? We are a big gambling family and this really bothers me. Casinos in general are cutting back by making odds worse all over the country but it seems like Carnival is doing that at a really fast rate since we've been sailed them. We heard they had changed to automatic shuffler machines fleetwide on the blackjack tables which is terrible. Also heard all tables less than $25 per hand were 6/5 blackjack which is also bad. But 3 0's on the wheel is beyond comprehension!

Don't have an answer for you but if that is true then that is horrible. Odds go down which you know.

I'll be taking my first cruise embarking on 8/5. Do you know if the casino has Pai Gow?

Solution is to stick with the hot numbers on that are listed on the digital board ;)

Living an hour from Vegas, I'm probably jaded, but I NEVER EVER gamble on cruise ships. Used to play poker, but now the rake is so high it makes no sense. Never touch a table game which doesn't have the rules clearly printed on the playing surface, PERIOD. There is no Nevada Gaming Commission looking over the cruise ship casino's shoulder like there is in Nevada. They can do anything they want to and frequently do without reprisals. Booze, slots, and art auction . . . biggest ripoffs in the cruise industry, BUT . . . . they keep my cabin prices cheap and allow me to travel to many countries at a very reasonable price. Love it. :D

The auto shuffler and electronic tables have turned us off to blackjack and poker on Carnival. We cruise all the lines and I think Royal has the most fair casino in terms of blackjack, I haven't seen a continuous shuffler or 6/5 BJ on there. The casino is a big part of our trips so after these two cruises we will reevaluate what works for us.

Believe it or not, my husband and I are fed up with Vegas. The kids still like it because they like the nightlife but for us, the fact that gambling has taken a backseat to entertainment has soured our views on the city. We went to Detroit a few months ago and I had more fun there than I've had in the last 10 years of vegas trips. The gaming industry as a whole is going to need to change to keep the people with money gambling. If you are smart enough to have amassed enough wealth that you enjoy losing it, you are smart enough to realize when they are slapping you in the face and not even giving you a chance to win.

Another story, sorry for the double post. Hubby's Masonic brother just got back from a CCL cruise. He withdrew $20,000 the first night expecting them to open a private table without an auto shuffler. They kept telling him they'd do it later in the night when casino was less busy and he won about $5000 messing around at craps on a really hot shooter. At midnight they said they weren't going to do a hand shuffled game for him at all on the ship and he politely told them they weren't going to get his business on the automatic shuffler. He left the $25000 in his safe the rest of the cruise and didn't go back.

Wow! 20K?? And I thought I was gambling a lot by bringing between 600 and 700 to play with!

Sheech. That's nothing. He only made a 25% gain. My last cruise, I took a C-note and doubled it to $200 on the Quarter Coin Pusher machine. That's a 100% gain. Try to beat that.

Funny, no proof of any change but bashers show up in force to slam.

Hey guys, I wasn't trying to bash, just being honest. I think my post pretty clearly stated I was fed up with a lot of the gaming industry for being too greedy. I do think RCL tries to cater to more serious gamblers than Carnival but we have fun on all of our cruises. For instance, CCL has some of our MDR food though I personally think their steakhouse is too expensive/not worth the extra expense, it's the only line where MDR is all you want anyway.

No Pai Gow Onboard. Haven’t seen one on any cruise line I’ve sailed. The return is so low for the house as it is, land Casinos hold back 5% on a win.

I thought I post this from the Wizard of Odds website because I always had questions about the auto shuffler. The advantage is more hands played in a shorter period of time, but the in game advantage actually goes up for the player.

Blackjack - Shuffling

What is your opinion of the continuous shuffle machines now being used at the blackjack tables in Las Vegas? Do these machines give the house more of and edge even when a person is using basic strategy?

JOHN FROM LONDON, CANADA

For those who don't understand what you're asking, there are new machines that take the blackjack discards and place them randomly back in the deck after each hand. If you are using basic strategy, then the shufflers actually lower the house edge slightly, due to the omission of the cut card effect. It is my understanding that they do provide an honest random shuffle. However, the shuffling machine allows the dealer to waste less time shuffling and spend more time dealing. This means you will spend more time playing, and thus more hands for the house edge to grind you down.

That's why I was hoping.for pai gow, not much they can do to the game to sway it more in their favor aside from holding back more.
