My wife and I are looking at booking New England in Fall of 2020 so we have lots of time to plan. Those who have been can you give me feedback as to which cruiseline you picked and why you think they are the best for cruising New England. Thanks for any and all feedback

There are several good cruise lines that offer New England / Canadian itineraries in the fall. I think the key would be to look at which itineraries offered most fit your interest and go from there. You also would want to consider your on board interests and demographics as well. Some lines are more family oriented with a number of different venues and activities to fit that. Others are more adult oriented with less of those venues and activities towards more of an adult cruising environment. I see you are booked on a cruise with Princess. You could look at their itineraries as well.

Two others you may want to start with in your consideration would be RCI (more family oriented) and Celebrity (more adult oriented). I don't know how you booked your current cruise but it might be good to consult with a cruise specialist travel agency to discuss your preferences and expectations and let them help find the best fit.

What works for me may not work for you

Choose the one with the itinerary that you like in the price range for your budget & the amenities that work for you

I prefer ships with less than 1500 pax

YMMV

HAL offers 7 day Boston to Montreal and the reverse cruises. We have cruised that route twice on the Maasdam and would do it again in a heartbeat. But we enjoy HAL's slower relaxed pace and smaller ship size, both of which have pluses and minuses. The retractable roof on the lido pool area is nice too for chillier days. We were never bored but then we rarely are bored anywhere. The musicians in the Mix Piano Bar and the Jazz trio always kept us going until 11 when we would hit up the late night buffet and then go crash. The ports are great and we were ready for bed by midnight and back up at 7. We enjoyed cruising all the way to Montreal too. Boston and Montreal are great cities to spend several days in and explore.

Solely based on itinerary, I'd pick HAL because its one-way and they use smaller ships that go down the St. Lawrence. However, after sailing on HAL, I'm not a huge fan.

If I ever do this itinerary, I'll probably end up on a round trip out of NY/NJ. But, since I live in NE, the NE ports of call aren't a huge draw to me, as I've been to them before.

Hi there

If you are specifically looking for a "New England" cruise, I would suggest something through "American Cruise Lines". The reason is easy, they do New England cruises.

If you are looking for a Canada/New England cruise, then I would suggest HAL. Only because I did one of their Boston to Montreal trips and enjoyed it very much.

I would be surprised if our likes and dislikes matched uniformly, so I would suggest that you choose based on the usual. Itinerary, suitability of time (especially if you are indeed looking for a Canadian component and wanting to see the fall colors), price, and other thing that might influence you decisions.

hope this helps

have a great cruise

Thank you all for the great feedback. I am looking at ships/itinerary/and pre and post cruise options. My wife has never been to NYC; so we may look at a cruiseline that starts or ends in NY. My sister lives in Maryland so may look at sailing out of Baltimore so we can spend a few days with her; but then Boston has my interest; again, my wife has not been to Boston; and there is a lot of history with that city. I do know there are cruises that stop in Boston so I may look at that option too. Decisions, Decisions. It is good to have all these options. Again thanks everyone
