Obsideon Posted August 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2018 Hello fellow cruisers! This October we will be going on Allure of the Seas, it will be my first ever cruise. I will be going with my family of 7. A 2-year old, a 60-year old and the rest of us are between 25-35. Most of us are super night owls and used to sleeping very late. I was originally planning to do some work and maybe surf some net before bed but probably won't be an option anymore looking at the expensive WiFi fees (and I heard it's spotty). So, what is there for us to do at night? What's still open? The only thing I can think of, and I would prefer not to spend too much time there, is the casino? How about a basketball courts? Arcade? Do they shut it all down at certain times? I checked the gym is 6am to 10pm ... so that's ruled out, what about this jogging track? I also noticed there is a pizza shop open till 3am?... haha but can't just chill there every single night... I think I would have heartburn by the end of the trip haha. What other food, drinking place, or even just a place to hang out is available? Or does everyone just settle back to their rooms after 10pm and it's a ghost town around the deck? There will be bars and clubs and karaoke and late shows available. Also night time on deck is beautiful. I love taking walks at night on deck. cb at sea Posted August 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted August 15, 2018 How "busy" the nightspots are will vary from sailing to sailing. On some cruises, it's a late-night party...on others, it's "early to bed" crowds!
Tin can Posted August 15, 2018 #5 Share Posted August 15, 2018 How "busy" the nightspots are will vary from sailing to sailing. On some cruises, it's a late-night party...on others, it's "early to bed" crowds! Very true, one that stands out for us was our Baltic cruise in 2014 where there was a very large group of Mexicans on board (all ages). As I'm an early riser very often I would see them in the Cafe Promenande at 5am(ish) still in there dancing clothes and counting casino chips etc whilst having coffee. It was great fun! I never knew places stayed open that late, but I guess if you are spending then Royal is open.

Rare BillOh Posted August 15, 2018 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2018 Havent been on Allure but on others Mini Golf and Basketball were open all night Allure's golf course is in a wide open area and at night the ship is going pretty fast. It can make for an interesting round. Ever hit a ball 10ft to the hole and have the wind blow it 20 feet back to you?
Clarea Posted August 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2018 Some pools or hot tubs will be open. Since Royal has added lifeguards, they have been closing pools around 10pm or 11pm. However, they usually have at least one hot tub open 24 hours.

illiniwahoo Posted August 16, 2018 #12 Share Posted August 16, 2018 The daily cruise program will list the opening hours for each place daily. At least one bar is usually listed at open until "late". That's usually a good bet for drawing the latest crowd. Even if you don't like to gamble, there's a casino bar, which can be a fun place to hang out late. George C Posted August 16, 2018 #13 Share Posted August 16, 2018 You can have a drink IN the pool and hot tub. ;) They were not allowing drinks in pool on my last cruise
Grandma Dazzles Posted August 16, 2018 #14 Share Posted August 16, 2018 They were not allowing drinks in pool on my last cruise Never known them not allow drinks in the pool as long as they are in plastic glasses of aluminum bottles or cans. I have seen waiters serve people in the pool in the solarium. I have also seen pool staff and waiters tell passengers they cannot have a glass of wine (usually brought in from elsewhere) and offer a plastic glass.
