Brisbane - Shuttle from port to CBD

Recommended Posts

We will be arriving on the Sea Princess and trying to find out how much Princess charges for this shuttle. Does anyone know?

(I posted on the Princess section and got no Replies so trying here.)

Last time I did it it was $20.

If the Sea Princess docks at Portside, you can catch a ferry (CityCat) to the CBD and other places. It would be cheaper and more scenic than a bus.

We don't know what date you will be in Brisbane. Sea Princess docks at Portside if a P&O ships isn't there. You can check on the Brisbane Ports website to see where the Sea P will be docked when you will be on her. Last time we used the CityCat service we were able to buy a ticket on board. I am not sure if this is still available. Someone else will know about this than I do. I you do go with this option, and if you are a senior citizen, bring your senior citizen card or some ID with you. You may be able to access the concession fare for seniors.

I think Sea Princess is small enough to dock up river at Portside. If so there is public transport and no shortage of taxis for the the short trip in to the CBD.

According to everything I've found, she'll be docking at the FI terminal.

What date will you be in Brisbane on the Sea Princess? If the ship docks at the Fishermans Island terminal, I suggest you either take the shuttle for $20 or if you have a group of four or five people, you could get a taxi. The terminal is a long way from the CBD so you would need a sizeable group to make a taxi an economic option.

We will also be on Sea Princess at Fisherman's Island wharf in late October.

Am also interested in the shuttle.......where does it take you to in the city and can you get off along the way, like at the Maritime Museum?

Does anyone know if the shuttle's route passes near to the M. Museum, otherwise we will need a taxi, I guess.

Thanks for any help here,

Rosee

I met a passenger off the shuttle at Anzac Square in Ann Street, Brisbane. There was a small tent with tourist people offering maps and assistance. The bus returned to the wharf from the same place. We walked along Ann Street to the beautiful Roma Street Parklands, then across the bridge to Southbank (Museums and Art Gallery, etc). Returned to the pick up point by ferry to Eagle Street, then walked back to Ann Street. The Maritime Museum is at Southbank.

Once you are in the CBD there are 3 free bus services running Mon-Fri only. Look for the red stops.

Bus route 40 travels clockwise https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/timetables/bus/t/40

Bus route 50 travels anti-clockwise https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/timetables/bus/t/50

Bus route 30 is the Springhill loop https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/timetables/bus/t/30

A pdf can be downloaded https://translink.com.au/sites/default/files/assets/timetables/170109-40,50.pdf

There is no tourist commentary or anything. They are provided to help everyone get around.

Just a reminder that the Brisbane CBD is not the only destination available from the Grain Terminal.

It's a short taxi ride from there to Manly, where you can catch the ferry to St Helena Island.

If you go a bit further to Cleveland, there is a 20 min ferry ride to North Stradbroke Island, a large sand island very similar to Fraser Island. From there a connecting 25 min bus ride takes you across the island to Point Lookout which has very scenic walks, beautiful beaches, and whale watching. There were some whales there last week, but I can't promise any in late October, although it's still barely in season.

I know it's not what you were asking about, but I sometimes get the feeling that the Brisbane CBD is a bit of a tourist letdown.

Thank you for these alternatives. Will check them out.

Thanks MMDown Under.

Looks like it will be a taxi from the ship. We have been into town before and around Southbank, but it is quite a walk from there to the Maritime Museum as I remember it.

  • 1 year later...

I can only comment on what Celebrity charged so the costs would I anticipate be similar. They last charged $US20 return which is approx. $30 Australian.  The drop off was in the middle of the city behind the large carpark.  It will give you an indicative cost.
