AARP Carnival Gift Cards

I didn't know Target offered 5% off. That will be my back up plan.

If you have a Target card, everything you buy is 5% off. That even includes gift cards, surprisingly. It's not a special offer by Carnival, it's just a Target card thing.

Well, we've done a fine job of creating excess demand here. I wonder if it'll ever naturally reach equilibrium, or if they'll start selling for $95, or just be dropped altogether.

Seeing how they only seem to sell a finite number of cards, I don't see how this would be an issue. They aren't going to sell more than they meant to, it's just a matter of them selling out faster.

If my company had something that people seemed to be clamoring to get as soon as it became available, they would raise the price of that thing. "Why leave money on the table?" seems to be the status quo now.

AARP is making things hard with having to ship my cards to my billing address only! Hopefully it is still signature required. I miss the e cards.
It is signature required for the $500 or more. I have no idea about the lesser ones.

I just bought some this morning.

So looking at your messages, these will no longer be e-cards but will be shipped to us? I don't like that!!!

Yes, no more e-gift cards. I don't like it either - the delay in delivery and dependence on snail mail isn't appealing.

OMG, took me like 20 minutes last night to finally get the order to go through. Kept insisting my billing address needed to match the shipping address even though the "billing address" was grayed out and the box for "use my shipping address" was checked.

I finally gave up with Chrome/FF and had to use IE and then it worked.

Now I'll have to make sure someone is home (this will be a challenge) to get the signature required on delivery.

I don't remember if this question has been asked/answered: Can the AARP gift cards be used to pay for the cruise itself?

You can use the AARP gift cards to pay for the booking deposit, any or all of the booking balance, and on board expenses like photos or casino donations.

I haven't attempted to use a gift card to pre-pay for Carnival excursion bookings, perhaps someone else may have tried and can answer?

I have used them to pay for excursions, tips, Cheers, etc with no problems. When we walked on board last year I had pre-paid everything. I had some money left over on a card so I tried to add it to my account at the kiosk. That didn't work so I went to the desk and had no problem adding it. We ended up using that leftover bit to buy batteries and pay for a few photos.

This is the actual message on the AARP Forum dated 8/16/18:

"The Rewards for Good catalog is no longer able to offer Carnival Cruise eGift Cards. The program will continue to offer the physical gift cards. If you are planning a cruise please allow ample time for the physical gift cards to be delivered via mail. Gift cards can take up to 10 business days to be delivered. We apologize for any inconvenience."

So that's that. What a shame!
