Videos of Ålesund, Skjolden and Stavanger

Recommended Posts

The last 3 ports of our summer 2018 Norwegian fjords cruise. At Ålesund, as one of our party has mobility issues we took a taxi to the Mount Aksla viewpoint, but the 418 steps up there will be very manageable for most people. The taxi from the dock cost NOK 500 and we had 10 minutes viewing time. Ålesund is a very pleasant town to walk around.

Skjolden is a tiny village at the end of a fjord. The only things to do unless you venture inland are walking or cycling. We rented our bikes from Adventure Tours (3 hours, NOK 250 pp) and had great time. We only went as far as the waterfall (7 km) which round trip will take around 90 minutes, or nearer to 2 hours if you stop for a snack/drink at the waterfall.

At Stavanger persistent heavy showers kept us close to port so it's not much of a video, but we really enjoyed the Norwegian Petroleum Museum (NOK 120 pp, 60 for children and students) and spent about 90 minutes there.

Videos of the other ports (Bergen and Geiranger) can be found from the NORWEGIAN FJORDS link in my signature below. All the best, Tony
