Happy HALer Posted September 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 5, 2018 We are planning a cruise to Bermuda with NCL and taking our Great Nephew and Great Niece. They have been living with us for over two years and we have a Temporary Guardianship Power of Attorney signed and notarized by their Mother (Sole Custody). The POA give us unrestricted permission to travel with the children, make healthcare decisions, etc. We have obtained passports for them as well. Does anyone know if this document can supplant the Parental Consent to Travel document that NCL says they require? Due to their Mother's current condition, that would not be impossible to get, but would be difficult. Also, does Bermuda have any requirements that might cause us problems. I have spent some time Googling this without any success. Looking for someone who may have experience with this situation. Thanks and kindest regards. Rare BirdTravels Posted September 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2018 The release form is on the NCL website (towards the bottom) https://www.ncl.com/downloads/docs You will need to consult with NCL and your attorney to determine (1) if the form is needed and (2) whether you can sign the forms yourself with your POA. zqvol Posted September 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2018 If the forms that OP has were drawn by counsel, and actually say what they claim they say, then OP has all the permission that he needs.
renjrusa Posted September 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2018 Having traveled with grandkids who's mother lives in Brazil, even with you temporary POA If it wouldn't be impossible better to at least try and get that travel document notarized. Better to have it and not get asked, than to get asked and not have it.. Our last cruise we weren't even asked for the paper and we took a different grandson.. better safe than sorry.. good luck
Happy HALer Posted September 6, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted September 6, 2018 If the forms that OP has were drawn by counsel, and actually say what they claim they say, then OP has all the permission that he needs. Just a template form signed and notarized by all parties. Specifically says no restrictions to travel.
