Buying Beer and ice at the port

Is there a carry out or liquor store within walking distance of the port? I'd like to fill a collapsible cooler for a day on the beach.

 

Second question, is there any problem with bringing your own cooler to Sandcastle?

Yes. There are shops just outside the port control and across the street. Not sure about taking beer to the beaches but haven’t seen anyone checking either.

There are shops in town you can buy drinks from, however Sandcastle does not allow outside beverages or food on the pool deck. The beach is public property of course so no one can stop you down there, but if you are planning to pay for the day pass at Sandcastle you are agreeing not to bring your own drinks.

Rainbow beach is public though right?

Drake - we’d like to take a snack and drinks to the beach. We’ve spent quite a bit on the other islands for excursions and want to keep cost down here. However I still plan on helping the local economy by buying a nice bracelet on the island instead.

 

Just want to be sure it’s okay to take drinks to rainbow beach....

Yeah rainbow is fine too bring your own down on the beach.

In the interest of clarity, I just want to specify that all beaches on St. Croix are public so technically nobody can stop you from bringing your own beverages and food to the beach. However, Sandcastle and Rainbow both have restaurants on their beaches so the common courtesy is that if you are paying for the day pass (chair rental, etc) you keep your food and drinks down on the public sand and buy at least one drink from the bar.
