mommasaurus Posted September 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2018 We have an onboard credit from our travel agent. We were wondering if it is refundable if we do not use the whole amount as we have already prepaid gratuities and tend to do our own shore excursions. I had read before that there was a casino option that has a percentage taken off but I would like to know if it is still possible to do this. Some comments have been confusing as to whether or not this is still possible. Other posts have mentioned that guest relations desk can refund this type of onboard credit. Once you get onboard you can confirm with Guest Services, but OBC from a travel agent is usually fully refundable on the last day of the cruise. maryjaden Posted September 15, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2018 You can withdraw the amount from your account using the sea pass in the casino, but they will charge you 5%.

Is that still current? The last time I tried to do that, the cashiers desk would not give me cash, and sent me to one of the tables to buy chips. On the last few cruises we were able to use our OBC at the tables in casino,example:100obc was deleted from our account +5.00 fee,at the end of our trip any OBC left was given to us as cash at the service desk,w/o a fee. Rare island lady Posted September 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 15, 2018 They gave me cash in the casino on the EN two weeks ago Thanks! I guess once again: RCI...Really Consistently Inconsistent. ;) Have two larger OBC on next couple of Oasis cruises coming up. Would be nice to get cash in the casino for some of it. :D
Rare island lady Posted September 15, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2018 You never mention on board credit, right? You just ask for a cash advance against your on board account? I never mentioned OBC either, but cashier would not give cash, only chips at the tables. Odd ball ship I guess, one of the smaller ones, but can't remember which one.:o

Ken at the beach Posted September 15, 2018 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2018 I wonder what they would have done if you said you wanted to play slots? I know at one time some ships were giving out a voucher that you could use in the slot machines, You could insert it then hit payout and get a voucher redeemable for cash. They are probably working on a way for the slot machines to produce non-cashable vouchers.

I don't spend time in the casino...so I am not very adept at thinking in that direction. ;) Will try to ask for cash in casino on Oasis coming up. :D

Or, can't you just put your card in a slot machine, download the equivalent of the onboard cash as a room charge, don't play, take out the card, walk over to the cashier, hand then the card and get the cash for what's on the card? Rigby the Dog Posted September 15, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 15, 2018 Slots do not accept seapass cards. It's all medallion now. Isn't it the same as the seapass where you can download money? It must be. Then go to the table and get chips.

islandwannabee Posted September 16, 2018 #24 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Just got off 2 week cruise on the oasis, 1st week, Sept 2, got $300.00 cash, was charged 5 percent. 2nd week, sept. 9th, got $300.00 cash and there was no fee involved, both weeks I had money from travel agent, no difference in status or anything, but one week charged 5% one week I was not. I thought OBC from TAs were 100% refundable? Or could pull 100% at Guest Services? The non-refundable OBC, as I understand it I thought, is from RCI promos.
