HoneyandMe Posted September 16, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2018 :)I read somewhere in these posts about "kettles" on the Silhouette. I am assuming kettles are teapots or something in which you can boil water. Please correct me if I am wrong. More importantly, is there a pot of some sort in which you can boil water for coffee or tea in the balcony staterooms? Sailing on December 21, 2018. Thanks. Duanerice1 Posted September 16, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Not usually. If the ship sails from Southampton then I understand they have kettles to boil water for tea but not from US ports. If you ask they might have one on board but don't count on it. Phxazzcruisers Posted September 16, 2018 #3 Share Posted September 16, 2018 Duanerice1 is exactly correct. If the ship sails out of the UK they do have kettles in the rooms. If it sails from anywhere else they do not and will take them away if you try to bring on on board at embarcation

Yes, they heat water only. I have been pleasantly surprised several times if I ask the cabin steward. It never hurts to ask!
ryansmousehouse Posted September 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 17, 2018 I was on solstice this summer... After requesting hot water carafe two days in a row I was brought a kettle.. Worked great and we could have tea whenever... Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Denny01 Posted September 17, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 17, 2018 They add them to the cruises out of the UK ports because they don’t want the Brits coming out of their cabins without a ‘spot’ of tea......could get very, very ugly! Den
laticmon Posted September 17, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 17, 2018 We've just returned from Constellation on a Venice-Venice fly cruise. We had a kettle in our cabin which was great for a morning brew. Had to get the milk from the buffet though.....
LEESRE Posted September 17, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 17, 2018 Just been on Reflection and when the Cabin Steward came to introduce himself he asked if we would like a Kettle. We were not sailing from Southampton either.

We were not sailing from Southampton either. We were likewise asked by our steward on our recent Infinity cruise. He presumably picked up on the fact that we were from UK and would want a kettle. Not been on Silhouette yet but stewards on Summit Equinox and Reflection all have provided electric kettle along with some cups and saucers when I've asked. I'm not a huge fan of either their "free" teas or the TeaForte brand of "upgraded" bags, so generally bring my own set up of leaves and bags.
