cruiselover168 Posted September 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2018 Hi, we're a group of 10ppl. mostly senior from 60-70. We just want to go on a nice clear water beach and maybe some snorkeling where it's easily accessible by taxis. Any one has recommendation? Also, how does taxi work? how much ? we don't want to miss the ship on the way back home. Thanks
caribsun Posted September 22, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2018 Sapphire Beach ! When you walk off the ship you will be greeted by a taxi coordinator, tell him/her what beach you want. The fee is 10.00 p/p ea way. Tell the driver to return to the beach for your return to the ship. Give them a time and they will be there, they like be groups. :)

How long does it take from the pier to the beach (NCL Bliss)? Does it have restaurants and bathrooms ? Any entrance fees ? Chair and lounges? Also, I've read somewhere that Corki beach is also very nice! Does anyone have any idea how long does it take to get there from the pier ? (NCL BLISS) and the cost ? Thanks Edited September 22, 2018 by cruiselover168

blue_water Posted September 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2018 20 - 25 minutes and ~$10pp to any of the East End beaches (Coki, Lindqvist, Sapphire, Secret Harbor, Elysian). Coki, SH, and Sapphire are all options with snorkeling, food and drink, and lounges. Our choice would Sapphire, gorgeous beach and water with beautiful island views. Three condo properties share the bay but it is larger and is less crowded than Coki and SH. Lounges were $9pp, not sure about umbrella cost. Vacationdreamer<>< Posted September 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Are they lounge rentals associated with the condo properties or independent vendors? Sent from my iPhone using Forums
blue_water Posted September 23, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 23, 2018 All rentals (lounges, snorkel gear, etc) are through the dive center. You cap put your lounges where you want along the shore...
beautifulbill Posted September 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) Guests of the Sapphire Beach Resort ( there are 3 complexes with the name Sapphire in them) get complimentary beach chaises. Their lounges have the large initials C O A on them. Guests must rent from the dive shop for $9/day. If a guest mistakenly sits in a C O A lounge the attendant will ask you to move. 2PinaColadas Posted September 30, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 30, 2018 Beautiful Bill-- this may sound like an odd question, but is the Dive Shop going on dives. I know they rent loungers, kayaks, sell drinks etc.. but are they diving? My DH can't find anything on the internet about their dives. We are staying at Sapphire in March. Thanks!! cruiselover168 Posted December 6, 2018 Author #10 Share Posted December 6, 2018 since we're a big group, it's better to reserve a taxi for the round trip? or it's okay to just hoop in n out?
Liverpoolfan181 Posted December 12, 2018 #11 Share Posted December 12, 2018 Does Sapphire beach have umbrellas for rent as well for their chairs or is natural shade readily available? From what I understand, Coki, Emerald and Magens bay are the only beaches with umbrella rentals? We have been doing Emerald and Magens for many years and thinking of a change :) Thanks in advance! We were able to rent an umbrella in Dec 2017. There was a lady selling clothes at the beach and she had umbrellas for rent. It was a little windy, but manageable. I think it was $15. blue_water Posted December 14, 2018 #13 Share Posted December 14, 2018 Umbrellas aren’t normally available at Sapphire, that vendor may have been renting them then because of the lack of shade right after Irma, perhaps... But w’re reading much of the green has recovered, and Sapphire is a great choice!

Not sure if your group size is 10 or 30 ppl but if you want to ride together and have a mini-tour you could reserve a taxi ahead of time, or even hire a private driver for the day. But you can all just grab taxis heading to Sapphire and meet up there, there will be multiple taxis going to the East End beaches...taxis will be there for your return, and you can ask one of the drivers to return for your group if the vehicle is large enough... Cruisin Kay D Posted December 15, 2018 #15 Share Posted December 15, 2018 Someone mentioned Elysian -- can one go into/through that complex to get to the beach? Is any restaurant open there now...since hurricane?? (Heard the Wyndham timeshare units not avail for another year.) Can one get to Bluebeards Beach? O2B@Cagain Posted December 16, 2018 #16 Share Posted December 16, 2018 Kay: Yes, you can drive into the complex. Caribbean Fish Market is open. If by Bluebeard's Beach you mean where the old Limetree/Bluebeard's Beach Club was, I believe they are still under construction.

There was considerable damage, from what I’ve read recently the beach and grounds are nice, but many condos will not likely be back in use until late summer or fall. The Caribbean Fish Market restaurant is open and the beach bar is expected to open for high season, Sangria's restaurant is not open.
