holidayhelen Posted October 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2018 Hello We are at this port in January 2019 - I can't seem to find anything about it or any tours except the ships tours - which look awful for us. Anyone any idea of things to do? Can we just wander on our own or best to get away from the port. We are only in port 12 - 6 and its a Thursday. Any ideas? Thanks H
RSF Cruiser Posted October 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2018 We love the beach there. From the tender area, walk to your right. You'll go past the fish stands and plenty of restaurants. Keep walking , go over a short bridge, keep walking until you get to the beach area with hotels and a few restaurants. We usually go to the far end of the beach and sit on the chaises at one of the hotels - I forget the name but I think it has del mar in its name. They have really good guacamole. You get a wonderful view of the ship, too. You can also walk a block or so behind the beach - lots of interesting shops. Zihuatanejo is one of our favorite ports. Ronnie1a Posted October 23, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2018 The Villa del Sol Hotel is located on La Ropa beach. It is frequently listed in the top 10 beaches in the world. However, from the cruise ship pier you will probably need a cab.

candigirl41 Posted November 4, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 4, 2018 When I was there in 2006 we went to a place called La Perla, they had a restaurant and we stayed there and ate and drank and played in the water. They even had a small humidor with lots of cigars to choose from. Candi

CRUZBUDS Posted December 7, 2018 #8 Share Posted December 7, 2018 We always liked going to Isla Los Gatos. It is across the bay from the ship. There is a ticket booth on the pier for the water taxi. The beach is lined with palapa restaurants with chairs and umbrellas. We also used to go the the last one with the pink umbrellas and table clothes. Good drinks and terrific food - the bacon wrapped shrimp was incredible -- ask for Carlos, he always treated us well. We miss cruises there - there are very few now. . On our last visit there, we told a bunch of our roll call friends where were going -- there were about 20 of us. Carlos was happy to see us
