January 27 alternative Vietnam excursions

i have contacted a very highly recommended tour company in Vietnam to compare what they offer as an option to the excursions offered by Windstar. The company came initially recommended on Cruise Critic by a previous Windstar Vietnam visitor. I then checked reviews of the company on Trip Advisor, they were almost universally very positive. I sent our Vietnam itinerary to the suggested contact and he responded with two or more options at each stop. Generally speaking the quoted prices, which depend on the number of participants, are somewhat lower than Windstar’s. In addition the excursion details are sometimes similar to Windstar’s in some cases, Hanoi, and quite different, an eight hour Halong Bay Cruise vs four hours on Windstar, in other cases.

At this point I’m primarily interested in Halong Bay and a couple of options at DaNang, but I want to explore further with the company.

My purpose in this post is to give a heads up to any other cruisers that might want to CONSIDER non Windstar excursions as we always do. I’ve compared both Windstar and non Windstar offerings for this cruise and we wil do a mix.
