excursions and tipping?

Just wondering if it's acceptable to tip the tour provider either independent or booked through the ship? If so, about how much?

Yes, it is acceptable. There is no specific amount...tipping is individual and personal.

When we did our two Caribbean cruises, all of our excursions were booked through RCI. the tour people were so amazing that we tipped heavy. Ditto what CriserBruce said.

My Anchorage resident Nephew worked for a tour company this Summer as a driver/guide in Anchorage.  His hourly wage was disappointing, but he did enjoy his job.  Offering a gratuity to those guides surely are appreciated by them!

You are in the US so tipping is customary and expected, as opposed to in the Caribbean or Europe. The amount is up to you, but 15% - 20% for the guide is customary.

According to the instructions we received for a Princess connoisseur escorted cruise tour, the recommended tip for the tour director was $5-$7 per person per day.  But then that tour director was with the tour group all day long every day of the land tour.  If what you are going on is just an excursion that has a driver who is also the tour director and only lasts for a few hours, I would think a tip of $5 per couple would be good.

we have a tour for four people for 6 hours and the price is 1200.  The owner is our tour guide.  Do you think she should receive a tip?
