Vaccines required for Australians visiting Hawaii??

Really? Australia is a First world country. As is the US. Millions of tourists come to Hawaii every year, including us...we are here on Maui right now, our second visit this year. We have been here 30 times...never needed a vaccine.

The only issue is we have to go home sometime,  and a vaccine doesn't fix that!

Hi CruiserBruce,

thanks so much for your reply!

I had originally thought there were no vaccines required until I read yesterday about "recommended vaccines" for Hep A and B?!

Is this the same coming from the US as it is from Australia?

"Recommended" is far different than "mandatory ". Hep A and Hep B are smart no matter where you go, but not required. For example, I have Hep A and B, but DW only has Hep B. And it seems many countries recommend and provide vaccines like Hep A/B more readily as part of their health care systems, as compared to the US system.

There is no issue with Hep A or B in Hawaii.
