Early disembarkation in Dubai

Our upcoming cruise ends in Dubai, where the ship will overnight.   Disembarkation is the following day, at 8am.  We will be disembarking late in the evening on the day we arrive in port.

For those familiar with disembarkation in Dubai...  will we need to pass through immigration and customs at the port?   The ship is scheduled to arrive at noon.  We plan to do some touring in Dubai, then return to ship, eat and freshen up, collect our luggage, and then disembark around 8pm.

Thanks for any advice.

You've obviously arranged for early disembark? Most cruise lines charge you for this and specify the time of you leave the ship. Usually in the morning. You'll go through immigration when you get off the ship and when you return and when you get off again with your luggage. Assuming the cruise line allows you to do what you've planned.

Yes, we have alerted our cruise line (Oceania) of our early departure.  I gathered that early disembarkation is a somewhat common occurrence when a ship concludes its segment in Dubai with an overnight, as many of the overseas flights from there seem to depart very late at night (or early morning).  This will be our 3rd time to disembark a cruise early, and so far we've never encountered a fee.  I guess we've been lucky!

Thank you for the info on immigration at the Dubai port.

We did this in January 2017 on the P&O Aurora.  When the ship arrived midday, everyone went through immigration in the terminal.  When we left the ship about 1:00 a.m. all the immigration officers were gone.  Only the security officers were available to scan our luggage.

We stopped at passenger services to pick up our final bill and just pulled our luggage off the ship.  No problems.  We also told our stateroom steward that we would be leaving early.

When we left the terminal,  there was a single taxi waiting for a fare.  He said he had been waiting for a couple of hours.  Apparently the taxi drivers pay a fee to enter the port area.
