For anyone who is interested, hope this is ok to post, Groupon is having a special on the Hop On Hop Off Trolley Tour in Boston. It's $37 for two people:

https://www.groupon.com/deals/cityview-trolley-tours-2-8?deal_option=9ffb6017-cbf5-31c9-8341-296d4c394634

If you scroll down, it says Trolley Vouchers must be redeemed at the City View Trolley Kiosks located on the Atlantic side of the 255 State St. Building. Question, does anyone know if it's a far walk to get to this spot from where the cruise ship docks?

It's about 2 miles from the Cruiseport to 255 State St.

I'm thinking we may just walk part of the Freedom Trail instead. Where do you think best place is to start, the North End? I definitely want to see the Paul Revere House.

You can take an Uber to the North End.  Get off at Atlantic Ave and North Street to walk into the Paul Revere House.  Then pick up the Freedom Trail and walk it backwards to the Boston Common.  To get back to the ship you can take another Uber or take the Red Line at Park St direction Braintree/Ashmont two stops any train to South Station and do a free transfer to the Silverline SL2 Dry

Dock Ave bus to go right back to the ship at Black Falcon Terminal for $2.75/pp.
