cindivan Posted October 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2018 I’m on RC boards quite a bit and currently there is some ranting about how most cruise lines drop prices, sometimes substantially, on the last remaining cabins as the sail date gets closer so they fill all the staterooms with warm bodies that will hopefully spend more money while on board. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that PG (reasonably) maintains their prices up to sailing date and if the cabins aren’t full, the so be it. They are not full and current passengers are less crowded and arguably get better service with less customers to vie for workers attentions. We are looking froward to sailing PG I’m 2020 and are wondering if the is true. TIA
Larro9 Posted October 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2018 If it is full capacity, I don’t think you would know..everything is precision regardless of 200 or 300 passengers..never a crowd, never a wait..in my opinion, it wouldn’t matter... Wendy The Wanderer Posted October 31, 2018 #3 Share Posted October 31, 2018 I think the ship is sufficiently popular that it usually sails close to capacity. Back in the days after 9-11 they had trouble filling the ship, as did everyone, in which case they would offer specials. People don't spend much money onboard, however. There's the spa, and the photographer, and the casino, and the gift shop, that's about all.
Tahitianbigkahuna Posted October 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2018 (edited) Most sailings are pretty full if not at capacity. The PG does do periodical sales where not all sailings are available on the sale ... such as now as the available dates for the two week sale are on some of the 7 night cruises. In this way they keep the ship pretty darn full. During June - September and the Holidays the ship is almost always full. Longer sailings are often always full as the PG has a very loyal base and the 'in the know' repeaters typically book longer cruises to get the most out the the long flight to get to paradise. cindivan Posted November 5, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted November 5, 2018 Thanks for all your replies. I am not too worried about it being full. I was more just curious about the pricing strategy of PG.
shevais Posted December 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2018 We sailed with just under 300 last week. And that included two very large groups who were sailing together, one was close to 80 people. This was the 11 night Cook and Society Island. I totally agree with taking a longer option, the flights over are brutal from the east coast of the US. We had a total of 14 nights and it was perfect.
