gerelmx Posted November 2, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2018 (edited) We are doing a B2B in the Infinity, I want to know the options near the port that I should see, what I should not miss. The ship arrives at 5:00AM and leaves at 5:00PM Exist an option to visit Rome? Edited November 2, 2018 by gerelmx
Ski Mom 2 Posted November 2, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 2, 2018 We have just returned from our Wind Surf back2back2back cruise that stopped here. Originally I had thought about taking the cooking class that I had seen on these boards but my DH wasn’t crazy about doing that. Instead we did what we did in many of our smaller ports and we walked off and wandered around. We found the market which was a bit different than the ones we saw in the south of France. We found a lovely place to have Italian pastries and coffee. I would say say the area we walked around is more of a working mans area. The locals were out and about (didn’t see too many tourist) and it was fun listening to them talking to each other from their windows and on the street. We did wander by the sea and stopped for a beer and used the WiFi. It was an easy day and uneventful which was kind of what we were hoping for. Here is a picture we took showing all the ships in the day we were there.
LocoLoco1 Posted November 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 14, 2018 A great many of your ship's crew will probably take the train into Rome. Maybe Get off at San Pietro Station (The Vatican)?? Takes 1/hr. GOOGLE up Civitavecchia.portmobility.it
bennybear Posted November 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Take the local bus to Tarquinia and see the excellent Etruscan museum and graves.
Rare mskaufman Posted November 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2018 Personally, I would take the train to Rome. Just make sure you are back on time.
Rare little britain Posted December 11, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2018 (edited) There is a car hire right by the gate. Hire a car and drive to Orvieto (90 mins) for a beautiful drive, experience a stunning city and have lunch. I used Avis but there is also Europcar across the road. It cost us about €100 for the day.
