Hello, I am a straight female and my husband is a cross dresser. He is venturing out with being bi curious and we have booked our first Gay and Lesbian Cruise. I am really confused and want to make sure we booked the right cruise. On Cruise Critic it says Gay and Lesbian Cruise but no where else do we find that and no one can give us an answer. I have talked with our travel agent who could not tell me, i have called Carnival who cant tell me for sure but says there are LGBT Mixers on the day of the embarkment and through out the cruise. I just dont want to think we are going to experience this and end up not being able to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A gay cruise (or gay and lesbian cruise, I guess; I have not heard that term) probably is used to mean a cruise organized by one of the companies that charter an entire ship and markets to the LGBTQ community.  There are two companies I am familiar with:  RSVP Vacations and Atlantis Events.  There are other companies that organize gay groups (Pied Piper is one) to sail on a regular cruise.  They are not usually called gay cruises.  There are also meetings of LGBTQ people organized by a lot of different cruise lines (sometimes referred to as "Friends of Dorothy" meetings).  These are not gay cruises but just a get-together on a regular cruise.  I am not sure which type of cruise you and your husband would enjoy most.  Good luck.

The LGBTQ community are a very loving and accepting group of people. You wont get judged or shamed for being a straight woman. Most will probably think its awesome how supportive you are of your husband! The 2 of you should go out together to a gay bar or pride event and socialise a bit. You'll feel a lot more comfortable in the lead up to your cruise.

The 'Gay and Lesbian' umbrella definitely includes bisexual and crossdressing people (and those who love them!) There's no reason why you would end up not being able to go. I think you will both have an awesome time :)

If I understand your question correctly, I would say that if you did not book a specific type of cruise with your travel agent or booked directly with Carnival, I doubt that it is a sponsored "Gay and Lesbian" charter or group cruise - it is a regular cruise.  There may be a few meet and greets on the ship, which may or may not be attended, but nothing exclusive.  If you are looking for something predominately gay/lesbian oriented, I would do a little more research and possibly use a gay/lesbian travel agent, who can definitely find the right fit for you.  I would also look at one of the companies previously mentioned, like Atlantis, RSVP, Vacaya, etc., which are exclusively gay and are welcoming, or group cruises like Pied Piper which provides exclusive events on the ship for the group (however, beyond those events, everyone else is a regular cruiser (who may or may not be accepting)).

If your intention is to possibly meet someone for your husband, then a "standard" cruise is not really the right place. As previous posters said, there may be an LGBT gathering, but will not be predominantly LGBT cruisers. Look at the mentioned travel agencies and you'll find exclusive cruises just for our community.
