Buenos Aires Hotel Recommendation

Don't get too concerned with being overly close to the terminal.  Cabs will get you there quickly so being close should not be the first thing driving your choice.

We chose the Fierro in Palermo Hollywood.  Not impressive on the outside, wonderful inside, excellent staff and with UCO which is an excellent restaurant.  Ranked as one of the best in South America when we were there a few years ago.

Neighborhood is eclectic, lots of restaurants, and we walked to all the major sights and sites in the city.

On departure day the staff arranged a car, and the driver (the resurrection of Juan ManualFangio) navigated a labor dispute that blocked many streets, allowing us to leave the hotel and be in our cabin in less than one hour, including navigating the port area, checking in, and the long walk to the ship.

I expect you will get lots of recommendations, but have a look at the Fierro - we stay in everything from modest cottages to top 25 world hotels, and found this place comfortable, clean, with great service and an excellent restaurant.  They also included a wine tasting of Argentinian wines that was memorable.  If you eat dinner in the restaurant be careful of the leg of lamb for two - an embarrassingly huge portion, but perfect.

Stayed at the Plaza Hotel, about a 2 minute taxi ride from the port.  Wonderful old Belle Epoque style hotel with weird shaped rooms and dark and furry surfaces.   Had a lot of personality and a good breakfast.

Right at the end of Ave Florida pedestrian street and about a 15 minute walk from Puerto Madero.

We stayed at the Globales Republica opposite the Obelisk for a weekend in Buenos Aires. It is worth getting a deluxe room for a balcony  with great views. Good breakfast and close to many attractions.

Not expensive.

I agree with airheadfan. There is absolutely no problem getting a cab from EZE to probably any hotel you choose. We stayed at the Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel and Convention Center in the Retiro district a day before our cruise out of BA. Very nice hotel - was probably about a 20 minute taxi ride from the airport. We had pre-booked with David Transfer Taxi, since they came highly recommended on Trip Advisor. Worked out great except that our driver's English was a bit limited.

Stayed in the Brick Hotel as part of a Princess package. supposedly a five star hotel...may have been twenty years ago but now needs  upgrading.

Having said that, it was clean and comfortable (in your Granny's house way), professional staff and fairly wide choice offered for included breakfast. Across the street from an upscale shopping mall which also had restaurants. (From Mc D to fine dining),

Within walking distance of main shopping area and hop on/off bus.

Would use hotel again in future.

We stayed at the Sheraton as part of Oceania extra package. Lovely. Easy walking to Avenue Florida which is a massive pedestrian walk area. Filled with restaurants  and stores. Walked over to a liquor store called Ligier and bought a dozen bottles of wine which they packed into to a carrier box for us to take to our ship. You cannot hail a cab on the street. Hotels and restaurants will call for a cab.

Just to clarify in case you are telling a cab driver, Puerto Madero is not the cruiseship port it is the port for the ferries to Uruguay.  The cruiseship port is Benito Quinquela Martin.

Correct. Puerto Madero is the faux tourist area, about a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
