Who has a good cruise ship casino slot machine story?

I usually lose, lose, lose and fairly quickly at the slot machines at sea.

has anyone here had a winning evening?  tell us all about it, please.

We've been to Vegas a few times and I've never played a blackjack or craps table but I'm leaning towards playing the PASS line at craps table instead of slots on our next cruise.  it's more social and hopefully slows the financial losses.

The last cruise I was on was the Gem in Jan 2015. I won about 800.00 during that trip. I never win, but that was the 2nd cruise I was on where I won pretty big. On the last night I put 20.00$ into a Wheel of Fortune machine and did a max bet and I hit the spinner and won 500.00. I took my money and left the casino. It was a great time. On land I think I have won a few times, usually I donate. I'm hoping to do well in Jan, but thinking it will be a donation. Also our M&G did a slot pull and we won. I think it was 22.00/each, it was on that same machine. (which was why I played it on the last night).

Back in the day when you filled out a paper survey before leaving the ship, I wrote a scathing review of the casino.  I turned in in before dinner the last night and after dinner I won enough to pay for the cruise on one spin of a slot.

I was on the Norwegian Jewel 2 years ago and I won $60-$120 every time I played.  I don't know the overall total, but I paid for all my purchases in port with cash and left the ship with more money than I left with.

On the Carnival Elation one time I was playing let it ride poker and I got the Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Nine of diamonds.  I won about 750 for that hand the royal flush would've been 17,500.  Those were the two times I did really well.

That was me on the Gem. I ended up coming home with more than I left with. And to top it off the entire cruise was free, as I was the 3rd guest in my mom and sister's suite, lol

Our first cruise together on the Sun in April 2007, my husband & I were playing quarter slots side by side.  I won $900+ and he won $600+ at the same time.

My only winning experience thus far on NCL was also on the Sun.  Played max bet ($1.50) on a quick hits machine and 7 of them popped up for a payout of $725.  It paid for my balcony stateroom fare and was the most I've ever won on a cruise ship.  Unfortunately, I didn't do as well last year on the Epic but I sure had fun trying!!

My Norwegian Bliss cruise 9/30 had lively slots.....I saw a few large hits and jackpots.  I put on a late night exhibition and had a fan club by the end....won handsomely!  Alas---put some on the bill and lost what was left but recovered again and again....what I calculated was my loss threshold was $250.....magically I would win, recoup, win nicely--pay on the bill, lose to about that threshold and viola!!! Win again......small area in smoking , limited machines, but had a ton of fun and made many friends!!  More fun than my local casinos......

I was on the Norwegian Pearl when they had they free spin slot machine.  It was a gimmick to get people into the casino, and you could play once per day.  The prizes were meals at the up-charge restaurants, free cruise, and something else (might have been casino credit?)   I was on my way to the magic show in the theater and decided to stop in.  I never got to the show...

When it was my turn to play, I tapped the button and three cruise ships on the wheels came up, lights flashed and bells rang.  It was a little embarrassing as people playing other slots all looked at me.  The Filipino attendant said "you just won a free cruise!".   A manager came over to verify the win.  A few minutes later, the casino manager also came over and the gave me a voucher that could be used within a year for the cruise.  Then the ship's photographer came to take my picture as I held a giant cardboard check.

We wanted to use the voucher for a Hawaii cruise, but since they don't have a casino, we used it for another Caribbean cruise a few months later.  Casinos at Sea gave us an ocean view cabin, a free drink card for the casino bar, and put us on the list for breakfast at Cagney's.

They never knew that I don't gamble any money at the casino!

Last year on the jade I hit $7500 jackpot off of free spins on a blazing 7 machine. The next night went back to the same machine and hit $500 off of free spins again. Each time I only put $20 in. My biggest win ever on a cruiseline. Used the money to book the dawn this coming January. Hope history repeats itself!

An additional query--I am a  believer after  30  + cruises, that slots are looser  the  first 2  days  and  last 2  days of a cruise.

I know  people will challenge  this!!  We have won on NCL  lost  on MSC  and RCCL   won on  X as  well.

I have seen someone get a  royal flush  2 x  within 10 spins on a $5 dollar poker machine.

when its  time  to win you win!!

In March on the Gem my hubby handed me $20 to play Buffalo Gold.  I was playing minimum, $.60 a spin and 5 spins in hit the bonus....for $1496!

I was about to ask what type of machines and how much are people playing? Hubby has always done pretty well on Buffalo Gold but never anything like a thousand or more. I have had the best luck I think on the Sun: I need to give up on penny machines I think and try quarters.

I don't believe in the looser tighter argument.  We play video poker primarily with a few slots mixed in.  We have hit hand pays (over $1200 in a single hand) on all different days of the cruise and on many different ships.  The best few were $7700 on a single line 10 play video poker on Carnival.  Royal Flush was progressive, and my wife hit it for that amount.  When it reset it was only worth $2000.  Right place right time.  We were playing on the NCL Jewel and had 5 hand pays in 7 days for a total of about $9000.  We ran hot the whole week on that one.  Lastly, hit a Royal Flush on Ultimate X with a 3x multiplier for $3,000 on the Epic.  Only one we didn't do decent on was the Escape earlier this year, but was first time in quite a while that we didn't come home with $3k plus after a week.  We bank any and all hand pays since CAS doesn't give you credit if you play them back.

I got the 5X5X5X on $1 machine for a $2 bet on the Star and won $10,000. See my profile picture :classic_biggrin:

Also first time playing videopoker we were dealt A of hearts K of hearts queen of hearts j of hearts and q of spades. My husband wanted to keep the straight. Hmmmm the progressive os 1300 lets throw away the q of spades and voila we got the royal

Slot machines at sea are programmed much tighter than their Vegas or other land-based casino counterparts.  They have no gaming administration to answer to.  Most lower minimum bet blackjack tables are continuous shuffle, if you want to play with a shoe, usually they start at the $50 tables.

Craps has the lowest house edge of any game.  I play all over - was on a Med cruise a few years ago, and up came these 2 guys from Spain who had never played before.  We got them to roll.  They rolled for 30-45 minutes before crapping out.  Everyone made $$$ that night.  Like a previous poster said, if all you're going to play is the pass line, back it up with odds.  The pass line pays even, the odds pay the true odds of the point.

In 2002 we were gifted a cruise on Carnival by someone who couldn't go. We paid I think $100 each to transfer the cruise and airfare. Awesome to get a free cruise, even with just a week's notice. 2nd day on board I played a Double Diamond quarter machine -won $1250. It paid for our transfer fees, drinks, excursions and even came home with a little $- making it a truly free cruise 🙂

I've never won anything else that big on land or sea, but I have fun trying. It does make me question how people get so lucky!
