Looking for advice / suggestions on doing a northern lights cruise

I have one booked for this coming winter with a different line, but am looking for some advice on visiting some of the ports that are on my itinerary (Bergen, Tromsø, Alta, Narvik, Bodo, and Stavanger). Particularly, I'm looking for advice on evening northern lights searches. I came across a company called GLØD that looks to be highly recommended. Not sure, however, if they do pick-ups right at the ships or only hotels. Thanks for any input, especially on anything that might be considered a 'don't miss' experience.

Please note that the concept of a a Hurtigruten northern lights cruise is very different from your cruise - Hurtigruten does not have overnight stops and do not  sail to Alta.

You should also post you question in the thread you already have started at the Northern Europe & Baltic Forum
