 Sushi was available every day from noon-9pm on the Promenade Deck 9.  It is located outside the casino where they used to have the taste bar.  My husband is the suchi eater, and although he never made it there to get some, he said it looked good.  Maybe the next one.  Here is the menu:

You could sign up for the Green Eggs and Ham breakfast.  It was the last sea day at 8:15.  Cost is $5 per person.

If you happen to order Room service, it has been suggested that you keep the tray to use around the ship.  Just make sure you put it away, or your cabin steward may take it.  Room service is the only place I know that you can get potato chips on the ship. Make sure to have some dollar bills to tip or include it on the room charge.  My understanding is that they are not included in the dining room tip. Room service menu:

The ice cream machines had strawberry ice cream in addition to the vanilla & chocolate. They had an ice cream bar on our last sea day too. These were located in the middle of the Paris Grill ie the buffet (Lido Deck Aft).

The layer cakes were beautiful. Each day there was a different selection of cakes.   These were located in the main dessert section of the Paris restaurant (Deck 10 AFT) along with outside between Guy’s burgers and Blue Iguana (Deck 10 - mid ship). I got pictures two of the days:

We purchased a picture of margaritas from the BlueIguana Tequilla Bar for $25. It had a lot of ice but also a good amount of tequila. It was a great place to sit and people watch. Here is it’s menu:

I'm enjoying your review!  I, too, have been on most of the Fantasy class (except Paradise and Ecstacy).  I'll be on Ecstacy in February.  I love the smaller ships, as well.  

 

Those layer cakes look AMAZING!  I haven't seen them on one of my cruises, yet.  Hopefully they will roll them out on all ships soon!

Great start to your review!  We were on the Paradise last month and it's my personal opinion that I prefer the larger ships.  I got turned around a few times on the Paradise.

For the comedy club, they had their own drink menu. Pitchers were not on the printed menu but you could order them on the paper order sheet they had out on the tables. Here it is:

The Rotterdam bar all the way aft on Promenade Deck 9 is a Martini Bar.  There are also a number of large TV ( a big improvement from before when there were little tiny TVs) to watch sports.  It was quite crowded for the college and NFL games.

Our Grand Suite:  U79

We loved the large, hotel size feel to the room.  In addition to the bed, there was a couch and two chairs and an extra large counter.  There was a large walk-in closet but it did not have any more room for clothes that the normal cabin.  It did have a motion detector light in it, so we had to keep the door closed at night.  The room had bunks built into the wall and could accommodate 4 people very easily without feeling crowded. 

 

There was a pole in the middle of the room next to the bed that my husband had to learn to navigate around.

 

We did have a door for adjoining cabins.  The first day we could here the TV from the room next to ours but after we were at sea, we never heard noise from there. 

 

There were 3 air units in our cabin.  My husband and my temperatures are so different.  He kept it about 68 degrees in the room.  He loved it.  I got an extra blanket to put on the bed.

Each cabin now has a refrigerator in it as part of the new dry dock.  It kept stuff cold without having to have the door open.  It is very shallow and would not allow for a small plate of cheese in it.  The bottom allowed for about 12 soda cans.  On the other ships, we have a 12”x12” cooler with a plastic insert that we use and have the room steward keep it iced for us.

 

We enjoyed the large window and being able to sit in bed (ie…air conditioning) and still see the water

 

Our Cabin Steward, Mr. P was wonderful.  He said he had a total of 33 cabins including the suites to clean.  He knew our names the first afternoon and was always around.  I tried to get him to skip our room on our day in Cozumel, but he refused.  He said he could go ashore when all his cabins were finished.  He left us this note and some cookies one night. 

 

We we got two complimentary large Bottles of water for the Suite. These are the same as what they leave for the VIFP members, so not really a bonus unless it is your first cruise. 

 

And some of the cute towel animals he made along with the electric tea lights I got.  They worked wonderfully to light up the room without bothering us while we were on the balcony at night.  We also put one in the bathroom so that we did not have to turn the light on during the night.

The Grand Suite Balcony   U79

We had hoped we had a balcony with all glass, but the bottom part was solid, which made it a little harder for me to see out.   I think these were original to the ship and not added like the other balconies. There were three chairs, two of which reclined and a table. Only problem with the chairs was the width. It was 18.5 inches between the arms and the seat was 16” wide. My husband did not enjoy sitting in the chairs. But over all we enjoyed having a balcony. .

The Grand Suite bathroom

It was wonderful having a big counter and not the shower curtain that is normal in the smaller cabins. But if you are really tall, this may not be an option for you. My husband is 6’ 1” and found the ceiling very low. As you can see from the picture, there is very little clearance.  My husband found it worked best to bounced the water off the ceiling instead of trying to duck under the water flow. 

 

  If you are looking to use the soaker bathtub, keep in mind at the narrowest point in the middle, it is only 17” wide. The upper part is only 25” between the shower doors and the wall. With the pull bars sticking out 3 1/2 inches, I am short and found I hit them occasionally. 

 

There were open shelves (not pictured) on the wall next to the door along with storage area under the counter.  There was a nice magnifying mirror mounted on the wall.    In addition to the normal shampoo & shower gel, they gave us some small toiletries that you don’t get in the regular cabins.

Oh...forgot the picture of the closet. The other side had a small section for long garnets that contained 2 robes. There were three drawers and open shelves with the safe. All the new safes use combination buttons which is so much better than the old safes that needed a magnetic bar code

Having only been on the Ecstasy and Fantasy of this class, I really like the way the Lido aft windows are set up on Paradise - it is nice to have that sitting area instead of the pizza/deli/bar counter.

 

Your husband looks like he's about my size. Was he able to take a bath in the tub? Asking as I've always wondered if I'd be able to enjoy the tub if we spring for a suite one day.

He did not even try. Just taking a shower was tight.  I am 5’3” and I just barely fit in the tub. I never took a bath but sat in it and my hips just barely fit at the narrowest point was 17”.

The new upgrade comes with new lamps in each of the cabins with 2 USB ports in each lamp. 

 

The cabins on the other ships in this class (everything except Elation & Paradise) only have one plug in the room.  The first time I took my kids we did not know this and it was quite tricky with lots of electronics and only one plug.  I got this plug to use for my cruises.  The actual plug will spin to fit where ever the plug is.

 

 We also had a 220 v plug and two 120v plugs by the mirror along with two additional USB ports.

There was a hairdryer in the drawer.  I found it very ineffective in drying my hair and I have fine hair that dries quickly.  It was also very cumbersome to use and I had to sit on the stool since it was plugged in behind the drawer.  In the future, I will bring my own hairdryer.

The night tables had great storage in them:  Next to the couch and part of the bunk system is  a smaller storage area on each side. When the bunks are in use, the bottom bunk would sit on these. The bunks also need a key to unlock them unlike the non-renovated ships
