Port Canaveral As a Stop - Carseats

We will be docking at Port Canaveral on an Anthem of the Seas cruise out of New Jersey in March. We would rather spend the day at the beach / walking around Cocoa Beach than the other excursions. We have a 3 and a 6 year old. The 6 year old can ride in a backless booster but the 3 year old is in a 5 point. What are the best options? Should we just take the vaguely pricey Royal Caribbean shuttle (approximately $50-60)? The price isn't our primary concern, more the lack of flexibility. We are driving to port but I would rather not store a car seat in a balcony room that already has 4 people in it. I have heard people recommend renting a car but I imagine it would be similar with the carseat situation to get TO the car rental centers? We are not bringing a stroller.

Thanks.
