Connecting Cabin? Where Does it Connect?:  Not connecting cabins though it appeared we could have connected the verandas with the folks next door.  I suspect the little line on the deck plans between 11268 and 11270 represents the foyer these two cabins share.  There is not a door that connects these cabins within the cabins; the connection is external, i.e., in the foyer, which is a private space and has a door leading to the corridor.  The foyer door requires use of either 11268's or 11270's key card for entry.      

                                                

Suite Details: Like Solstice class there is a door to an entry area before you get to the actual cabin door, like a foyer.  It is shared with another cabin (we never saw who was next door to us).  the veranda is very large:  we had two lounge chairs, two regular chairs, and a small table.  With all that furniture it didn't feel cramped at all.  There was a large, round coffee table in front of the couch (YAY!).  I didn't mind the rocking chair but I have to admit I'm glad they replaced it with a more functional piece of furniture.  The corner S1 afts only sleep two; the couch (actually more of a love seat) doesn't have a trundle like S1s along the port and starboard. I stayed in an S1 on the port side on a December pre-inaugural sailing and it was much smaller than the aft S1. 

The bed was very close to the bathroom door and the closets.  The closet with a single door was more of a storage area with shelves and drawers, i.e., there wasn't any hanging space.  This is where the safe was stored.  This single door unit was near to the foot of the bed.  The two-door wardrobe had only hanging space in it and was on the other side of the bathroom door near to the head of the bed.  There was one upper rail that went the length of the unit and then a lower rail that was half the length.   The bathroom was a very nice size and we had more than enough space for our toiletries.  There is a large sink with two faucets and shelves at each end, and then there is a vanity with lighted mirror and another set of shelves across from the sink.  The shower had a curtain going part-way around and then there was a glass door on a hinge (frosted).  Additionally there is a water closet with a door for privacy.  We were able to fit our three suitcases under the bed.  Dharma was our Butler and Andi was our stateroom attendant.  Both were lovely gentlemen and consummate professionals.  Overall a great cabin!                                                                                                                                    

Advantages/Problems/Comments: We enjoy the S1 afts on Solstice class and this didn't disappoint.  There wasn't a pole in the cabin like Solstice class (the pole doesn't bother us).  It is a bit of a walk to the stairs but that just helps burn calories.  I think we wished access to the two-door wardrobe was less cramped:  At night we left the double bolt on the bathroom door sticking out so the door wouldn't close all the way (it makes a loud clicking sound when it's opened from being fully latched).  We prefer drawers on the nightstands; these nightstands were a tower of stacked, open cubes so it looked a little sloppy to have our stuff in view.  I found an alternate storage spot for my undergarments...  We really liked the flip-top box with outlets for chargers. The television was at the foot of the bed on the wall opposite the headboard (no diagonal viewing).  The mirror above the bathroom sink does not open in half for a view out into the cabin, like it does in the port and starboard S1s.

Great storage area, lots of well thought out space.  Large bathroom with separate shower area.  Location of bathtub right in the middle of the bathroom seems nice in pictures but means a big splash with little containment when the kids are using.  "Double sink" was actually a long trough with a faucet attached at each end.  Again, nice to look at but not practical - it takes a long time for water and gunk to flow from one end to the central drainage area and sometimes, there is not enough flow to get there...eeps. Cannot fault the location - just across from Luminae and one floor down from spa, two from fitness centre and Retreat Lounge. Camp@Sea is also on deck 3 using the same forward escalators.  The room seems fairly soundproof - hardly heard any noise!  Two small bar fridges which hold plenty.  Good number of electrical outlets and also USB charging points - very practical and good for us!

Loved the location - didn't like some parts of the design of the bathroom as detailed above.  Also, as the Royal Suite is now "only" the fourth highest category of suite on the ship, we felt there was a slight difference in the amount of attention the line paid - no special invites to tours etc.  Laundry perk attached to the cabin is a HUGE plus with kids.

Division between living and bedroom, with our two kids in the trundle bed in the living room. Our attendant left the beds out (vs transforming back into the couch),  maybe because it was easier, and this was absolutely fine since our kids preferred to lounge when we were in our cabin anyway, but then this decreased the size of the living area, with us frequently banging our ankles on the rocker until we banished the rocker to the balcony. As others have complained, limited dining surfaces in the cabin:  the desk, and a coffee table with one side that raises, barely adequate for 1! Though there is another table out on the balcony. There are two USB plugs to the left of the bed and an outlet to the right, in addition to the standard box on the desk. There is an outlet for the hairdryer in the bathroom, finally! There is great storage in the mirrored medicine cabinet in the half bath area, and it was nice to have a sink both in the toilet area and the bath area. Both sinks have nice sized drawers below. There is a half glass door for the bath, no curtain, and that glass couldn't keep all the water where it belonged, so the floor did get wet. And beware, this door is not fixed, it can swing out, so don't try to use it for support should you need to lean out to pick something up (as DH learned the hard way ... ouch!).

Having experienced noise in aft cabins from Oceanview Cafe above, I was a little worried about possible noise from Luminae, but there was none (carpet must help), and it was very convenient to be located just below Luminae, and run up just one flight for meals. This cabin was just a few steps from the forward stairs/elevator, which was good too, since while it was close to Luminae, it was far from the Martini Bar!

Maybe (depends on how pricing changes) and if so, I'd choose starboard to get the view opposite of the one from Luminae.

We were there when records were being set for heat. When it was 110 degrees in Nice, it was nice (no pun intended) to be able to be on the balcony and still be in A/C! We were impressed by the storage availability, including the bathroom set-up. We also liked the addition of USB ports to charge everything! 

As far as the location of this particular cabin - it's the first time we've stayed this far aft and I wasn't crazy about it, but it wasn't terrible either considering it was a guarantee cabin.

Suite Details:  The sky suite had the the low round table - which was large enough to have 2 full place settings - but you had to sit on the floor - we didn't mind. Yes but unlikely to be able to afford Aqua Class in future. Also whilst we loved the ship the lack of pool access for my mum (she wouldn’t use a hoist!) would make me reluctant to rebook - we’ll try Apex in a few years.

Advantages/Problems/Comments:      This was a great connecting cabin for families. Each cabin had its own heavy door separating it from the other, so it probably would not be a noise problem for people who are not in a family group and don't want to be connected. Also, the connecting doors shut automatically, so this would be a problem for families who have young children. The doors are heavy and difficult to turn the latch, so younger kids would not be able to open the door to get into the next cabin. Our son is a teenager and was in the connecting room, and it was not a problem. We did occasionally prop the two doors open with shoes when we wanted to be "together."      

 

Also, note that one cabin would be a very tight squeeze for three adults or families with older kids. The third bed is a trundle (a drawer) and would not be a comfortable option. We were so glad we chose connecting cabins instead of trying to crowd into one tiny cabin. Yes, it's still very small for more than two people even with the infinite veranda!                                                                                                               

 

                                                                                                                                                              

Would You Book It Again?: Yes, but in general, we didn't feel the infinite veranda was an improvement and would opt for a ship with real balconies.

Advantages/Problems/Comments: 

Absolutely loved this cabin and the infinite verandah, will always book this type of cabin when on the Edge class in the future!  Even when it's hot or cold out you can just close the verandah and still enjoy the floor-to-ceiling views while keeping the extra balcony space in your cabin.  Also it was SO nice to have privacy on the balcony - this was a huge plus!

 

I struggled with whether the bed by bath or bed by balcony would be a better option.  In the end we selected this cabin layout of bed by balcony and didn't regret it.  You can lay in bed and still have a great view of the ocean.  Also the bed didn't block the access to the closet which was nice.                                                                                                                    

Location was nice, not too far from elevators but also not too close so it was quiet.  Never felt any movement of the ship.

Suite Details:     S1 Sky Suite with bed facing balcony. Plenty of storage. Bathroom was roomy. Tub not easy to get in/out of. Tub had a bit of a round shape so you couldn't stretch your legs (I'm 5'4"). Bathroom needed more hooks to hang towels...especially by the R side of the sink and a larger bathmat would have been nice. Loved the large soft towels and ability to open the mirror and see the water. Table in cabin was good size but too low to eat off.. Balcony had regular chairs and a small low table. A taller, larger table would have been nice. Refrigerator was cold.                                                                                                                                          

 

                                                                                                                                                              

Advantages/Problems/Comments:   Loved the location and size of the room but missed a table where you could enjoy Room Service breakfast. Proximity of Magic Carpet allowed someone looking out the side to see into your balcony.

Noise Issues?:   Yes, first night it sounded like a dishwasher was on a wash cycle so I got very little sleep. 2nd and 3rd nights very quite, normal deck 3 noise, ie humm of the engine and water lapping sides of the ship. 4th night noise was back but with a grating sound as well.  Nigh manager said the sound was normal but when it stopped he just said ship had changed course! Eden in Guest Relations was an Angel and worked with the Engineer to work out what was causing the noise.  After the first week they admitted it was a design fault that cannot be cured until dry dock, but had been corrected for the Apex.  We were offered a change of room to a higher deck either forward or aft as no midships were available but other half was worried about seasickness if in a higher cabin.    Its the gyroscopic stabilisers causing the issue so they tried not to use them after midnight.                                                                                                                                 

Cabins affected are 3128 to 3178 Starboard.  Engineer said he could hear the noise as he walked down the corridor on our sea day.

Sorry for the noise issue - thanks for warning others. Did they give you cabin numbers 3128-3178 as affected? I noticed that 2130 also had noise issues and they were moved to port side and it was quiet. It sounds like they tried to work with you - but you sound more patient than I would have been - I might have left the other half behind! 😉

Hi VTcruising, the noise affects all the cabins along the starboard side from 3128 up to 3178, 3126 and 3180 had no noise it was just the ones in between.  You could hear it when it was bad as you walked down the corridor thats how I know which cabin numbers are affected.  Being as those Cabins are 07 and attract a higher price than 08's I hope Celebrity drop the price for others.  We booked 18 months out and choose that cabin to be near to the Magic Carpet but not behind so we could see it in action.  Which was interesting after one of our tender days.  

Not being able to sleep I kept a note of what times it started and finished so they could use that to help them work out what was causing the noise and the engineer said it was the stabiliser Gyros.

I nearly left him on the 4th night, to sleep on the Grand Plaza banquets, but I did not want to make a fuss and he could sleep through it.

Thanks for the explanation. I wonder if a thread should be started to warn people. I wouldn't have been happy, especially since they must have had complaints before. I imagine the gyrostabilizers are used more on some cruises than others.

Advantages/Problems/Comments:    15106 is right next to the employee entrance to the Retreat Lounge. There is no window or peep hole in that door. We were hit 2 times and just missed being hit a 3rd time by the swinging door as we were entering our room. We have talked with management about possible fixes. The stairs in the suite leading to the upper level could be difficult for some. Overall, a very comfortable suite. There are a few issues around lighting and storage but just our opinion.
