Not going to happen with Royal Up - any unsuccessful bids are denied the night before sailing.

Royal are still inviting us to bid, we sail in 9 days.

If no one has bid for the suites, do they upgrade at the port?

But certainly someone has bid..how do you know no one has?

Wouldn't they just accept (even a low bid) than to leave it empty, then try to fill the bidder's cabin category?

Agree...they don't upgrade at the port any longer.

I was only replying to the issue of port upgrade - that doesn't happen with Royal Up since either acceptance or denial happens by the night before sailing.

Yes -as long as the RoyalUP website still shows your current bid is pending...

Thank you & I did go back in & change it. My original bid for a grand suite was $640 total & I bumped it up to $800 total.  Well I just got an email confirmation it was accepted & we’re in grand suite 9244 on the allure & we sail on 8/25 only 3 days from now!!! We’re celebrating our 29th anniversary so super excited & if my hubby doesn’t get an email or figure it out it will be a nice surprise!! Now to see what all we get with a grand suite.

Congratulations!  Can you tell us what the RoyalUP max bid amount was for that GS vs what you paid?

Thank you!!  I don’t remember what the max bid was & it won’t pull it up anymore but even when I bumped up to $400pp/$800 total for room it was considered a weak bid.

Do those little "meters" signifying weak bid really work ... seems doubtful their tied into any real bidding going on... or that I would trust them....Hmmm!!

Those meters simply increment from Weak to Strong in direct proportion to moving the horizontal "bidding" slider left to right from No Bid to whatever the max bid is for that particular RoyalUp stateroom...

Can I ask how much you bid and what type of room you got?

It was a free cruise for two inside cabin paying for port charges and taxes. When I booked it in May I upgraded to a balcony for an extra $29pp. I put a bid in for a junior suite for $150 pp. I think it was the lowest I could bid. I never ever thought it would be accepted but got an email from Royal on 8/8 that my bid was accepted for my Cruise on I 8/10. Go figure. I was happy try a regular balcony but was pleasantly surprised to be in a JS. Good luck all!

I have no idea if those little meters are really tied to anything but I got a great upgrade with a weak bit so I'm happy, lol.

We will be spoiled and will be hard to go back to just a balcony after this, lol, and so far hubby hasn't said anything so hopefully he doesn't know.

We both had casino offers for balcony rooms or a balcony and ov for a "Beers on Tap" promo cruise and called, were able to combine our offers and get a JS for $398 total so the extra $800 was an easy choice to make for a GS and I think the one they gave us is actually a 2BR and its just the two of us.  So not only super excited about the upgrade now wondering what they have in store for the Beers on Tap, I know a welcome reception and beer/food paring and a sponsored party pit whatever that is.

I do believe we had Allure cabin 9244 - 2BR grand suite - a couple years ago.  Absolutely HUGE.  Balcony was awesome.  RCI had messed up our reservation and upgraded us to make up for it.  Enjoy!

That balcony!!  Thanks & only 2 more days and so far the hubby doesn't know, lol.  I want to keep it a secret if possible but then I think maybe I should tell him so he can also research and make sure we take full advantage of all the great benefits of a sky class suite.

All you need to know is Michaels club and Luminae.

If no one has bid for the suites, do they upgrade at the port?

I just got the same e-mail for an upcoming cruise (more like a month out).

So first I checked for the upgrades, noted that the min prices have not changed.  Then I looked to see if there are any cabins even available- and it appears that there are not.  The system comes up with one suite, but when you click on it, it says that it's not available...

It would appear that the IT department is not caught up with reservations all that well.
