Ubarrow Posted November 27, 2018 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2018 Here’s my top ten, not necessarily in order of importance. 1. A big safe ship which rides all of the storms. 2. Captains who ooze dependability. 3. The slightly faded decor of a first class hotel 4. Insight Speakers. We’ve never had a bad one and some are superb 5. The entrance into New York 6. Surf and Turf 7. They let you bring your own drinks on board 8. Music in the lounges 9. Cunard dancers 10 Lovely staff
Lanky Lad Posted November 27, 2018 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2018 (edited) I agree with all of those. I am not long back from my first back to back TA and can't wait for the next one. Edited November 27, 2018 by Lanky Lad
Bigmike911 Posted November 28, 2018 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2018 I would add the food to the list of 10 best, and would take a bit of issue with the ''faded" comment.
chatdad Posted December 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 22, 2018 My wife would add the daily watercolor classes. For me it was the lack of feeling rushed. We also did the B2B TA and was the relaxing cruise we needed.

Yoshikitty Posted December 22, 2018 #6 Share Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Can I add Big Band Night in Queen‘s Room? And walking barefoot on the teakdeck outside of the Paviliion Pool? Edited December 22, 2018 by Yoshikitty

Please do ! and by the way, there is no need to be spending huge amounts on Britannia Club. You've already noticed that the Britannia Club staterooms are almost exactly the same as the Britannia category ( ok, with a slight exception of a few new additional staterooms) The evening menu is exactly the same as the Main Dining room ,with the exception of the a' la Carte items, which incidentally, a selection of 'these items are also available on request' in the main dining room. ( for always available items, speak to your waiter) There should be no need to be standing in a line, or queuing up to get into the restaurant. ( maybe with the exception of Breakfast/Lunch, however, this line moves very quickly) Never understood why some folks arrived at the restaurant 10 mins well before the doors are open. The other week on Queen Victoria I was amused when enjoying a pre dinner cocktail at the Gin & Fizz bar ( deck 3) some folks were actually starting to stand in line at 8. 23pm ! for an 8.30pm opening. Ubarrow Posted December 22, 2018 Author #12 Share Posted December 22, 2018 Have just heard that we have been upgraded to Britannia Club for our return journey on 3rd January. Although its the same menu we’re assuming that it’s more freshly cooked? As you point out, it doesn’t seem worth spending big bucks on the difference but very happy to try as an upgrade! It's a very nice experience ( occasionally I opt for BC as well as the occasional grills experience) but I wouldn't say the food in BC is anymore 'freshly cooked as the MDR' , after all, it's almost the same food from the MDR menu , with the exception of the a' la carte orders. I do have to smile 😉 whatever category or brand we a Cunard guest buy into , those in main Britannia still receive a premium service, there is a myth that one in Britannia may be treated as steerage. canoncruiser Posted December 22, 2018 #14 Share Posted December 22, 2018 I just got off QM2-wonderful winter Back to Back TA-didn’t even get off in Southampton. I would also differ on the slightly faded jibe-she’s just been done over-and she’s glorious and NOT faded. Criticism, I was in 5020, one of the very large Oceanview window rooms. They need to rearrange the furniture in all of the OV’s so that the beds are oriented the way the balcony cabins’ beds are and so that one can get to the window or porthole and maybe sit and relax and contemplate things in the AM with one’s coffee or tea. I note that the menu has changed in Britannia (good) and I think there is rather too much food served in the specialty venues. Fab-none the less.

On our seven-night voyage in the Club we always arrived at dinner between the times of the first and second sitting. So the main courses we ordered would be cooked at that time, usually 7:30 p.m. Edited December 22, 2018 by david,Mississauga formatting

Thaxted Posted December 29, 2018 #19 Share Posted December 29, 2018 I agree with everything everyone else has said, to which I'd add late night drinks in the Commodore Club, brisk walks around the promenade deck, RADA when they're on board, and (of course) the Atlantic Ocean. MarkBearSF Posted January 4, 2019 #21 Share Posted January 4, 2019 (edited) Simply our favorite way to spend 14 (or more) days. Anywhere. In 2020, we'll be in Princess Grill, however in our five trips thus far on the QM2 have been happily Britannia. Relaxation and grace each day. From delicious breakfasts to varied lunches (with breaks in the Pub and Caronia) elegant afternoon teas in the unbeatable Queen's Room and delicious dinners in the magnificent Britannia Dining Room. Fascinating lectures by world-class experts (typically 2-3 per day pique our interest), afternoon naps in the Planetarium, and classes on watercolor painting (wonderful!), fencing, acting (by RADA members), flower arranging, and ballroom dancing. And Ballroom Dancing. Cocktails in the elegant Commodore Club and the Chart Room which recalls the grand salons of the past. Pub Lunches and trivia in the Golden Lion Pub. Well-trained service with a smile, remembered preferences and gracious atmosphere. It's a rhythm. A pace as you march across the Atlantic. In our case, GLBT get-togethers at 5 PM in the Commodore Club are always a highlight - typically filling the area with 25+ attendees. While we don't typically take great advantage of the G32 or the Casino (occasional), Kings Court Buffet (seldom), Spa (never), and Gym (likewise) and Pools (theoretical) - they're well-populated by fellow passengers filling their days with their wishes.
