Phillip Island: Penguin Parade

We visit Phillip Island in late-March and we're interested in seeing the Penguin Parade.  I've researched options and watched YouTube videos on the various viewing options but I'm still uncertain which is best.  I'd love any first-hand comments or local recommendations on General Viewing vs Penguin Plus vs Underground Viewing.  Thanks!

Following - we're booked for the Ultimate Adventure Tour in mid-March.  Driving there from Sydney after disembarking.

I would check Tripadvisor - there are many reviews for the various options to view the penguins. Please remember to dress warmly or at least bring a coat as it could be quite cold in the evening.

We paid extra for a special viewing area but I don't think it was worth it.  IMO we got the best views as the penguins traveled beside a boardwalk that anyone could walk down.  Remember, no flash photography :)

Whichever upgrade option you choose, make sure you book it in advance as they sell out. In peak season even the standard viewing platform sells out. It’s a long way to get down to find out you can’t see the penguins!

Leigh, I appreciate your advice to dress warmly.  My research shows that the average low temps in Cowes are 11c-13c in late March.  Does that sound about right?

MightyQuinn, yes that sounds about right. It could even been cooler. The Penguin Parade area is on the southern side of Phillip Island  and faces Bass Strait so is open to southerly and south westerly winds and rain of course. My advice is to be prepared.

Hmm ... my to do list for our upcoming trip, to eat Kangaroo Pizza and now Penguin Burgers!
