MCBGrammy Posted December 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2018 Hi! 2 couples sailing 8/14/19. We originally had a DIY trip planned but recently decided to do Southern Glacier from Anchorage to Vancouver. Cabin selection is limited since we are late booking. Price isn't a huge concern but looking for best experience. We have only cruised Med and Caribbean and have enjoyed aft balconies as cabin of choice. However, our traveling companions want Portside which I right next to the elevators on deck 9. I have read that ship will turn so that both "sides" get good look. Will aft views be good or better on port or starboard? With all that said, cruising AK is a completely new experience so I am conflicted trying to choose between the following: Deck 9 D 403/405 or D 414/416 Club Mini $1932 base Deck 15 S705/707 Premium Suite Club dining $2691 Deck 10 C751 Vista Suite Club dining $2609 Deck 10 C748 Penthouse Suite Club dining $2941 Will our friends feel slighted if they are in Vista and we are in PH? Appreciate your help in advance!
Colo Cruiser Posted December 19, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2018 Welcome to Cruise Critic. We have sailed the Golden many times with some being Alaska. Dolphin deck mini's have a completely exposed balcony. Personally I would pick the Vista Suite. We like the aft suites. I would not worry about picking a side. The Caribe deck stern Vistas also have 2 beams, the PH has none. On the Golden, the Sun deck suites that include S705/707 are the only ones in the fleet - they are in a quiet area with beautifully finished passageways. Makes you feel special just walking to your cabin. .
