Left out of the curry shop is Margaritaville.  You do need to be cautious of the loungers as those closer to the water can be private and have a day charge.  Also further up is Jack's Shack. Living on past reputation, IMO.  Fewer places in between, so Jacks gets more crowded, service slower and prices higher since hurricane (latter is understandable, former is not).

Right  is the Beached Whale and loungers.  Quieter. Less party atmosphere. Still good food and bevies.

just looking for a relaxing day at the beach with food and drink near by.

thanks

That will depend on how relaxed you'd like to be.

To the left (facing shore) is Margaritaville with its big pool, loud bar, and beach.    Look for the free GTCC loungers and umbrellas that start closest to the buildings; the ones closest to the beach will be different colors and locals charge for them.

To the right and a lot quieter is a smaller bar-and-grill place, owned by the same folk as Margaritaville but a lot lower-intensity, with free loungers along the beach.   There might not be umbrellas there, though.

how far is it to walk to jacks shack

Depending on how fast you walk, maybe about 15 minutes.  There isn't much to Jack Shack, but it does have chairs and umbrellas, decent drink prices, and most of all, no vendors or pushy people.   The ocean swimming is very good right there as well.  First time to GT we did the beach right off the pier, second time we did Jack Shack, and if we beach it again next time, it will be Jack Shack.
