Cruising solo

My husband and I have paid for a cruise in March,  we just found out that he won't be able to go????  I was wanting to know if anyone has experience with this and what would be my best option.....If I go alone, will I be penalized because he isn't with me?  Or since we have paid for the cabin it won't make a difference.  The cruise line is carnival.  information would be greatly appreciated.

Are you willing to sail solo?  I have seen many people on CC say to NOT cancel your husband (or cabin mate) before hand.  Just show up and he is a no show.  You will only get a refund for the taxes and port fees, but not his portion of the cabin cost.  

 

I'm sure others will give you more Carnival specific advice.

Maybe you can find a friend or relative to go with you

some lines  will charge  a name change fee  or do as above  just show up alone

You could cancel  but unless you have insurance that covers  the reason for cancelling EG' medical

then you will lose money

check the cancellation penalties on the cruise line website

Thanks, I know that if I cancel I have to pay a 50$ fee and then find a cabin mate.  I think I will just go solo.

Harveya, have you checked at the Solo Cruising board?  You might find some information there that might be helpful.  I love the idea of a solo cruise, honestly.

I went on one solo cruise and really enjoyed it, but I enjoy other types of solo travel too.  You'll meet people to talk to and hang out with if you want to.

I think it would be fantastic to go on a solo cruise. Think of all the new people you will get to meet. I'm slightly jealous!!  🙂
