Carnival Splendour - 7 day Mexico cruise

Hi

 

we are first time cruisers and I would like some advice on what to do when we disembark at:

 

Cabo San Lucas

Mazatlan

Puerto Vallarta

 

Would you recommend doing our own thing or purchasing trips from the cruise liner?

 

We have already purchased the drinks package and the WiFi package.

 

Any tips on how to get the best from our cruise, departing 9 February would be much appreciated.

My practice is that unless I have something specific I have read about that I want to see/do in a new port, for my first visit I book the most basic general tour that the ship offers.  That way I know I have seen the highlights and have an idea of what I might like to do on a future visit.  EM

For Cabo San Lucas I recommend doing something that includes Land's End as it's lovely

-Cabo by Land and Sea excursion

-hire a pulmonia for two hours in Mazatlan

-Have lunch in the PV Romantic Zone

I did this same itinerary on the Splendor.  I loved this ship.  We disembarked at only one port, Puerta Vallarta, and did a island getaway type excursion.  It was a blast.  We were in a spa room and spent a lot of time in the T-pool.  It was glorious.  We never even left the boat on the other ports.  Port days on board is so quiet.
