Port Liberty Bayonne - ferry to New York City

I heard there is a ferry at Port Liberty that takes you to Manhattan.  Is it close to the cruise port.

Can we walk to it from the ship.  We can walk a mile with our small luggage. Where does it dock

in Manhattan.

TUI Cruises charters ferry boats to transfer guests from Bayonne to Manhattan and back but unfortunately no direct public boat transfer when Royal ships are in port. This works only in Venice!

According to this, per the NY Waterway website, there is a ferry that takes you from "Port Liberte" to way downtown by Battery Park (the Battery Maritime Building). It's important to note that the ferry is not right within the ship terminal. You'd have to exit the terminal and go around to Chapel Ave. (7 Chapel Ave Jersey City, NJ)

 

I've taken the ferry from both Hoboken and Weehawken to the city and back, but that obviously puts you closer to Midtown and not all the way downtown. Depending on what you are looking to do in Manhattan, being all the way downtown may not be ideal for you.

When researching, be specific about which "Liberty" you mean.  The cruise port is called "Cape Liberty", not to be confused with a residential area in nearby Jersey City called "Port Liberty".

The least expensive way into NYC from Cape Liberty is a cab to the Light Rail in Bayonne.  Take the Light Rail to Hoboken.  Then take the PATH into NYC.

No, not even close.  It's about a mile walk just to get off the peninsula to Rt 440.   Take a taxi or Uber to Jersey City then take the Path to Manhattan.   Here's a map to give you perspective.
