Hotel Icon. Adored. Booked a club room; got an upgrade to a suite at check-in. Amazing view.

Hotel is owned by a university and many of the staff are students doing their training for the hospitality industry. Service was impeccable. My husband says he had the best Manhattan of his life at the Club level bar 😉

The Salisbury, on Salisbury Road Tsim Sha Tsui.

Forget the "YMCA" tag, it's a regular 3 - 4 star hotel.

Tsim Sha Tsui is the tip of the mainland, where the super-frequent ferries cross to the Island  & the Salisbury is on the waterfront, with stax of shops & such on the doorstep. Two minutes from the ferry terminal and 3 minutes from the Nathan Road shops.

Rooms at the front on upper floors (11th & up) have close panoramic harbour views (masked from lower floors by the Space (?)museum(?) opposite).

The location can't be beaten - HK's most prstegious & expensive hotel, the Peninsula, is next-door.

And the value is excellent

But that does mean it books-out early.

Waterfront hotels on the island are new-build on reclaimed land - geared to road transport & with long walk-ways to get anywhere.

We have stayed a few times at Harbour Plaza North Point.  Close to family, across the street from Quarry Bay MTR, CityFlyer from Aiport (A12 $45 HK) stops right in front of hotel and the ding ding tram is right there too).  Right now bookings.com has their cheapest room for $104 USD which is pretty good)

This time however, for our upcoming post-cruise stay, we will be staying at Eco Tree near Tin Hau MTR.  We always would walk to this area for the many restaurants to choose from so this time we decided to stay right there in the area.  Only paying $112 CDN per night.

I also second the Salisbury. Clean, comfortable and location, location, location. Nice breakfasts in their restaurant. There is an elevator to the MTR station underground walkways at the side entrance to the hotel (past the restaurant). This is not only useful for getting to the station but also to get around that part of Tsim Sha Tsui in cool, airconditioned comfort - we used it a lot to go to restaurants a couple of blocks away from the hotel.

Booked it for mid-October.  Great to see you enjoyed it. We only booked a king with a harbor view, but it's big enough and I can't imagine spending too much time in the room.
