Kimpton ink48 - NYC

Hi,

 

we we are sailing out of NYC on NCL Encore in June 2020. I grew up outside of NYC ( now in NC for 16 years) and last time I sailed out I stayed  with my friend I was traveling with (who has since moved south as well.lol) and we took the LIRR. We were looking at the Kimpton ink48 has anyone stayed there before or have any other suggestions near the port?  I am not as familiar with the upper west side.  I use to stay at the empire a lot but my sister wants to be close by the port.

Nothing wrong with the Kimpton.  However, the consensus on this board seems to be that being “close to the port” is not really a priority in Manhattan.  There’s really not a lot in that neighborhood.  Staying in midtown between 5th & 8th Ave between 34th St and Central Park offers easy access to stores, restaurants, theater, and sites like the Empire State, Top of the Rock, Times Square, and Rockefeller Center among other attractions.  It’s a short cab ride to the port from this area.

Agree... close to the port has downsides and is not necessary. Since the OP hasn't been in NYC in a while perhaps stay where you can easily take in the sights, etc.

We have stopped for drinks there , would never stay there so many better hotels close by.
