Early breakfast in Barcelona

I have never been to Barcelona and am looking for recommendations for a restaurant that serves breakfast early.  i.e. 7:00 - 7:30 am.  Most of the restaurants I have found do not open until 8:30 - 9:00, and our tours start around that time.  We will be staying near the Universitat metro station.  If anyone can recommend a place to eat (besides our hotel) I would GREATLY appreciate it.  Thank you very much.

do you mean a full breakfast ?  there are lots of coffee shops in the area.  We're staying 2 blocks away from Universitiat at Hotel Lleo and there are several coffee shops closeby, incl a Starbucks. But that only works if you'll settle for coffee/tea and a muffin/donut kinda b'fast.

Your observation is correct, its a function of lifestyle and custom there - lite breakfast, start work a bit later, work later into the day, eat later in day so you won't necessarily find a full breakfast that early outside of a hotel.  Mapleleaves is also spot on - plenty of coffee places with continental breakfast options. Alternatively suggest you seek out a Carrefour Express (right up street on Gran Via des Les Corts) or a LIDL supermarket the night before and provision yourself with extras (they also do not open til 8:30 or 9)

I like eating breakfast  at La Boqueria.  It does not open until 8.  I pick up a juice, some fruit and a pastry and am good to go.
