Have a great cruise as you sail on the Royal Princess  re positioning cruise  from Fort Lauderdale  to California  taking the long way around South America . They will be tracing the path  shipping took before the Panama Canal opened.

We will be following on the bridge cam and any updates from anyone will be welcomed.

Here is the fabulous itinerary

Enjoy.

Thank You David 😊 We just arrived in Ft Lauderdale last night (US time).

packetau and retep55555 are also joining us on this cruise.

packetau is doing a blog of this cruise which you can read here: http://gaznjosouthamerica2019.blogspot.com/

I will try and post a few updates in here along the way depending on what the internet is like on the Royal Princess.

Thanks for the link . It will be interesting to see the passenger mix on this cruise. I am betting that there wont be too many blue cards and that nearly everyone will be Elite or Platinum . The CC Meet and Greet should be interesting if everyone on the Roll Call turns up.

We did a similar cruise on Rotterdam but we joined in Chile , sailed around the Cape  , up to Brazil , and then over to Africa and the Med.

Our friends are on this sailing.   7 weeks is abit too long for me.

Did Buenos Aires to LA on the Golden in 2015.   Just as well that the ship was overnight in BA as the majority of the passengers boarding the ship did not get their luggage until the next day, but not me.    Loved the tango dancers.

Probably a few days wait on the Elite laundry turn around as well, with all those Elites.  Having been on Royal in Europe last year, one needs to hit the Princess theatre at least 45 minutes before show time, just not enough seats for the 3600 pax, even with two performances - theatre seats about 850.

Worth having a few days in FL pre cruise, a bit to see, lovely cruising the waterways, looking at all the mega yachts.

Just read the blog, they did just that, the $28 canal ride, checking out the rich and famous in their mega yachts, big cruisers and palaces on the waterfront.

Hello from the Royal Princess

Sorry I have not posted since we got on the Royal Princess.

We have been having some issues and confusion over the new Medallion.Net internet access that is on the Royal Princess.

The first 3 days of this cruise, you should have seen the line for the internet manger!, it went just about the whole length of the plaza!

This cruise we are on is counted as 3 different legs, and in the past when we have done these type of cruises (like when we brought the Emerald Princess to Australia in 2016, we use to get more internet minutes after each leg.

On the Royal Princess (not too sure if this applies to other ships that have the Medallion Net), if say your cruise is 30 days, 49 days or 100+ days you will ONLY get those minutes for the entire cruise, NOT just for that leg.

For example in my case as we are on the Royal Princess for 49 days, I only get 500 mins for the full 49 days!!

So I am only able to updates about weekly….. 😞

Apart from that, the internet is very quick!, (This is the best we have every had at sea!) (This was in till we went in to the southern hemisphere!.)

We have had 3 days at sea and tomorrow we are in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Today we had the crossing the equator ceremony, which was not bad :), but I think the one we had on Emerald Princess (when we brought her down to Australia in 2016 was better).

We also had a good one on the Maasdam, when we brought her down last year, but I am not comparing Holland America with Princess :) 😉
