There were no plans to redesign the Casino (as was done on M Class Ships)

All furniture will be replaced on the pool deck. . .

Actually, the Equinox casino was supposed to receive some pretty bigs changes.  The picture originally shown (pre-Bahamas incident) had a new bar and an area with cocktail tables and chairs and numerous TVs.  I paid particular interest since that is where we tend to hang out.  I was looking forward to the new setup in October.🙁

I noted too that the oversized movie screen TV was an ADD in this reno...

It will reduce the quiet space of the lawn...and pax who rent the alcoves for relaxing will have a barrage of movie sound if it is used like the M class rooftop movie venue (volume etc)

I've seen this "Modernization Overview" matrix a number of times on various posts and also different versions, in particular what was intended for Equinox before the dry dock shift and another more limited version after the dry dock shift.

Does anyone know where this matrix comes from?  Is it available on some website or other source?  I've never found it on Celebrity's website, and not even on their "Revolution" website.  I'd like to see if it is updated for future ship revolutions... Silhouette is next.

Unless they utilize the screen way differently than they do on Reflection, I don’t think it will be an issue. I don’t think I’ve seen a complaint about the one that’s been on RF for months now.

It came off a site that’s meant for travel agents but is publicly accessible. I keep waiting for it to get locked down. It’s really the only source of detailed info. In reality Celebrity has released almost nothing on their public facing websites.

This matrix is found on the Travel Partner website from Celebrity

Was a HUGE DAILY problem on the Infinity during recent TA

We and others in aft 11 cabins had terrible noise issues --couldn't hear eachother because of movie track. Many calls to GS and so on to turn down Jurassic Park etc. We could identify the movies etc from our balcony...

Perhaps they thought the elderly pax were hard of hearing idk hahaha

Which is a shame because the pax don't know what they are buying...

Our TA books what we ask for...

What changes did they NOT make to EQ since the dry dock was shortened?

A few of the confirmed things that didn't get completed as planned are the additional suites, additional inside cabins, Retreat sundeck does not get a hot tub or extend down to deck 15, it appears the bathrooms were not redone, casino updates, Den on 7 and presumably Quasar stays in place since the Sky Lounge and existing conference rooms are still intact.

One thing I really enjoyed about the edge is the suite deck.  It had a small pool and hot tub.  A really nice bar and a limited menu lunch service.  Comfortable seating- we always found shaded areas to sit-  The suite lounge we hardly used but the suite deck was great.

In the afternoon, the attendants would come around with fruit and cold towels also.

I would be SO upset if I had booked a suite on this ship thinking the Retreat would have a hot tub.  Celebrity suite class (except for the Edge and the other new builds) still cannot compete with MSC Yacht Club or NCL Haven.   Something tells me it is going to be a long time before the Equinox gets the upgrades she was supposed to get.

I heard that these ships are scheduled for their normal dry docks every five years, so I would expect that Equinox may not get the missing upgrades until that time... given that these are the more substantial upgrades requiring the dry dock, etc.  The current dry dock schedule for all ships is what appears to drive their "Revolution" date, which explains why some S-class ships are getting upgraded  before the older M-class.

I'd be surprised if Celebrity pulls Equinox out of service before that just for these upgrades, but time will tell.

Honestly, having enjoyed the Haven on the Breakaway, the rest of the ship was horrible.  Crowds, poor food- I felt like when I left the Haven, every other area on the ship was like steerage on the Titanic.  In fact, I didn't feel safe in the event of any emergency.  The Haven was also very expensive for not great suites.  Never tried the MSC Yacht club personally, but haven't heard nor read great things.

So IMO a trade off.  Celebrity still my #1 choice and Royal #2- without the proper suite deck-for now.

Interesting to hear you say that. True confession  I’ve never been on any NCL ship, but we were considering booking a Haven suite and watched one of those YouTube videos done by travel agents trying to drum up business about the Haven.

The outdoor pool area everyone is raving about looked terribly claustrophobic to me, it was enclosed on all 4 sides. No one was on the deck, but the noise from some ventilation duct work was so loud, you could barely hear the guy doing a description of the amenities. Even he said something about the excess noise and the stuffiness of the space - and this was supposed to be a rah-rah, book a cruise with me on this wonderful ship type of video? I didn’t get it. The lounge/bar and small buffet space looked very nice and relaxing, but the outside, not so much.. to each his own.

We are on the Equinox in August in a suite, we shall see.

Whoops, I quoted the wrong post, sorry!

Am I missing something here?  According to  this newest "matrix"it appears that the new suites WERE added, the casino and Passport bar changed, and all suites changed. Why are people indicating that these things were not done?  Many have been concerned about taking part of the Sky Lounge to add those suites. From the above it is indicated this was done. I also see that some of the inside cabins were added. Please advise if I am reading the most recent "matrix" wrong.

If you haven't read great things about the MSC Yacht club, then you haven't been reading many of the reviews.  The Yacht Club is probably one of the best luxury experiences for the money in all of cruising right now.  While reviews about MSC are mixed, the Yacht Club is constantly reviewed quite favorably.

When I read reviews, I read about the entire ship.  Just like my negative experience on the Breakaway, sounds like the Yacht club is the Oasis on a large not great ship.

We will also be sailing on the Equinox in a suite in August and see if we like it as much as the Silhouette, Edge and Reflection suite experience.

I think you are mistaking the original matrix with the revised matrix.  The new suites were not added so the Sky Lounge remains the same.  The interior cabins were also not added. Not sure about the Passport Bar but reports indicate the casino was not changed either (I don't gamble so didn't pay too much attention to that area). Suites were refreshed but did not get the Hoppen updates and the Suites Retreat deck did not get the hot tub. Just a few more days until we start seeing pictures from cruisers.

I wonder if any TA's will be invited on board for a sneak peek when she reaches Ft. Lauderdale, or will they be too busy cleaning up and restocking.
