Willie Maes or Dookey Chase ?

Never been to either. Know both are good. Only have time for one; recomendations please.

They are very different places. Willie Mae's  is smaller, with a more limited menu, and famous for her fried chicken.

 

Dookie Chase is a good bit larger, with a more varied menu, and lots of soul food.

 

Both have on-line menus.

What's the best way to get to Willie May's from the French quarter.?

Went to Willie Maes yesterday. Amazing.  I grew up in the south and found all the accoladed's duly earned. There is a line, always, but it moves quickly. Took an uber both ways, easy and affordable; around $8.

I went to Willie Mae's last month. $7 uber. 10 minute wait in line. Absolutely loved the food.

Like others have said-- very different types of experiences and easily a coin toss. But if you're pressed for time I would go with Willie Maes.

I love them both.  Dooky Chase has a great buffet that lets you try a little bit of everything.  If you go as soon about 11 or 11:30, you won’t have as long of a wait.  If you go to Willie Mae’s I’d suggest that everyone in the group pick a different side.  I’ve never liked green beans or Lima beans until I ate them there!

I had only tried Willie Mae's last time. Outstanding. I'm sure Dookey Chase would be good too.
