Crystal Serenity at Kangaroo Island for Valentines Day

Recommended Posts

A beautiful day here today and the sea is very calm - a far cry from the last couple of days

The locals tell me they got the winds earlier this week and one of the Cunard ships couldn’t get in to tender

Heres some shots from onboard and the Island

The tenders are running smoothly and it’s only a short 5 minute ride in and a very modern jetty

Good point David, thank you. I can be on Hawaii time, right now.  The local petrol station sells flowers, they should be reduced in price now, post Valentines day, I had better get down there old son.

BTW, nice looking ship the Crystal Serenity.

Excellent port - plenty to see and do - the highlight for us at least was the National ANZAC Centre - a recent facility set up to mark the centenary of Gallipoli - and this is one time the Government got something right!

We loved being able to follow a soldiers journey - everyone gets a card with a soldier and there are points you can scan it and get info on the journey and ultimately the fate of your assigned soldier

Thoroughly recommend it to anyone visiting Albany

It’s a busy port with freighters taking out grain, wood chip and silica sand - there’s around 5 or 6 freighters at anchor waiting their turn to load up

Tendering in today, then Freemantle tomorrow then it’s farewell Australia for Crystal Serenity for 2019 - off for 7 sea days straight crossing the Indian ocean (hope the containers of supplies are there in Freemantle as they’re starting to run low on some items)

Her sister ship, Crystal Symphony, will arrive in Sydney in March for an East Coast visit en route to Asia

Just getting up in the West

Not much view from Starboard side verandah

and Bed Cam isn’t much better 🙂

It’s a tender port so well go ashore after breakfast for a look around and the inevitable train ride on the mile + long pier

Then it’s that awful moment of bag packing....
