Hemingway House - do you have to take a tour?

Do you have to take the guided tour at the Hemingway House?    There is an app to download on its website but I'm not sure if it is in lieu of the guided tour or just has additional information.  

 

What can you see on your own if not taking the guided tour?

The tour is included with the admission price.  You do not have to take the tour but it was very good. On your own you could go through the whole house and grounds but the tour guide gave very detailed information about every room and area.

Per above, the guided tour is included with your admission price.... BUT you can roam around on your own if you wish which can be nice if you are basically there to see/pet the cats.

In my opinion, no. Otherwise it’s just like walking by any other house in Key West.

 It's at 907 Whitehead St so once your off the docks, 9 blocks. And there's a few other things to see on the way.

we visit there any time we are in Key West, we walk but it can seem a little far, especially if it's hot out.  Also, be careful of sleeping cats, apparently one of them wasn't feeling being patted, and they scratched my arm pretty good.  😜
