Excited to be on the first itinerary post dry dock March 25-30. Second Summit cruise so will be interesting  to see the changes.

We will also be on that sailing.  I’ll do my best to live update, we are in a Royal, so free WiFi, but my DW is NOT excited for me to be on a device while on holiday. I’ll sneak some pictures as much as I can!

I was thinking she was in dry dock today also until I saw her filed plans yesterday.   Fun to watch.   Hope some of the crew and workers post pictures once in Dry Dock.   It is always exciting to watch her being restored to her glory.

Thanks for starting this thread. We will be on the April 6th cruise. I’ve been avidly following your Millenium thread. This will be our first time on Summit and our first time on an M-class in years.

I think you will like it.   M-Ships have fewer passengers and also only have Qsine and Tuscan for Specialty dining.    You should really enjoy her especially after her Revolution.

Sort of wish they would replace Quisine with Murano's after the revolution, we are sailing on her next March.

I am sure you will be inundated with requests.   There are still so many questions about Millennium and so few posting of pictures.

Just off the ship on Sunday.  We talked to a lot of the crew about the dry dock.  From what we were told, once the passengers got off the ship, 2000 contractors would be getting on.  Then the ship would sail to Fort Lauderdale to pick up another 1000 contractors.  Then it would head to Freeport.

Almost everyone we talked to said they would be staying on the ship during the dry dock and helping with it, in different capacities.  The waiters would need to serve food for the contractors.  One of the casino dealers said they would be wherever there was hot work to put out possible fires.

I was afraid they would start working on the ship while we were still on it (as happened recently on a different cruise line), but everything was open and functioning as normal.  The only time we noticed work being done was one day when we were getting off the ship in port from Deck 1.  We could hear electric saws.

Cabin capacity, just over 2,000 pax.. those 3,000 contractors must be using warm beds on shifts...

Thanks for the explanation.   It makes sense to pick up all of those workers instead of trying to fly them in.  I figured something similar as the stop in Fort Lauderdale is  so short.

We asked where they would all be sleeping since the cabins are being renovated.  They said some of the contractors would be staying in hotels.  Others would be staying on a ship docked next to Summit.  I'm guessing they are using the guest cabins until they get to Freeport.

That's so interesting. It would make a great documentary. Where do all those people sleep, how does it all go down, what happens to all the stuff, does the local economy benefit in any way... I'd love to see the whole project, so curious.

We loved Murano and really do miss it.  I do not understand why they have taken it away.  Someone said to me that it was way to costly to provide such nice food and service.  We were paying for it!

Another vote for Murano here as well. We eat there several times a week while sailing. Best food/service on the ship imho.

I know, I wanted to know so much more about the process too but didn't want to keep pestering the crew with questions.  I thought it was so interesting that the casino dealers were on "fire duty".  I knew all crew were trained in putting out fires (from a behind the scenes tour a few years ago) but never thought that's what the dealers would be doing during a dry dock.  I also wondered if the crew got a higher base pay since they usually rely on tips.

I was also a fan of the French Murano style restaurants on the M-Class.   Some staff said it was eliminated to "attract a younger demographics" who found Murano stuffy.    I would have to go with that as an explanation rather than the cost as Murano has remained on all of the S-Class ships.

Even when traveling on an M-Class in a Royal with unlimited free specialty we rarely go Tuscan and almost never go to Qsine.

I've never had a decent meal in Tuscan and quit going.  Qsine was fun with a group.  LPC does not appeal to me at all.  And I lament the passing of the lovely fine dining venues on the M class ships.  Oh well.  Apparently I'm not their target demographic.

On another note, did you notice all the Kelly Hoppen pillows in the chairs on the new Millie sunset bar area?  The one with no roof?  What the H are they going to do with them when it rains???
