Whales from the ship?

Headed to the Caribbean next week for the first time and wondering if there is much chance of seeing whales (or any other wildlife) from the ship.  We are used to Alaska or Pacific Coastal cruises where we see all kinds of wildlife from just keeping an eye out while walking the promenade.  I suspect this is not going to be the case on this trip.
