luv2cruise2thebeach Posted February 19, 2019 #1 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We are sailing on the Carnival Fascination September 22 out of San Juan. We arrive in San Juan the day before and need recommendations for a hotel that night. We would like to find a hotel that is beachfront and preferably within walking distance of a casino....Thanks
njhorseman Posted February 19, 2019 #2 Share Posted February 19, 2019 We often stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort. It's right on a beautiful beach and there's a casino right in the hotel, although it's not a very fancy casino. One negative is that it's very close to the airport's main runway and as a result you can hear jets landing and taking off. That doesn't bother us, but it might bother you. Blaise Posted February 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted February 20, 2019 I second the Courtyard. It was very affordable, a good beach, and the place was pretty nice. We didn't really experience much noise. Maybe it has to do with the prevailing winds and which direction they take off and land. We find staying in Old San Juan even more fun. The Sheraton is good, but expensive. We're trying two new boutique ones this time. Before the cruise: CasaBlanca Hotel, which is in a great location, and at the intersection of nice and affordable. After the cruise: Hotel El Convento, which is one of the best in the area, but we got it for a good price from a Web promotion.
Desert Cruizers Posted February 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted February 20, 2019 Daughter & I plan to stay in Old San Juan at the Decanter for our two nights, next March 2020. Most Hotels I believe have a 2 night minimum. I would have like to stay at the Sheraton but 2 nights would have been over $600.
Mrs Cigar King Posted February 25, 2019 #5 Share Posted February 25, 2019 We are staying at O LV 55 this time, part of the OLive Boutique Hotel group in Condado. It's the best hotels on the island in my opinion. We'll be there in just a few days, Loriann
PRH Posted February 25, 2019 #6 Share Posted February 25, 2019 Intercontinental San Juan. Nice bar at the pool. Right on the beach, close to CVS and grocery stores. We’ll be back there in less than four weeks! Yea!
pghsteelerfan Posted February 26, 2019 #7 Share Posted February 26, 2019 (edited) I also recommend Courtyard by Mariott - Isla Verde. Right on the beach (very nice beach), and also a very nice pool area that includes a swim up bar. There is a casino right in the hotel, so you only need to take an elevator down to the main lobby area. It is right across the main road from the airport and only about a 5 minute taxi ride from airport to hotel. We've stayed there two different times one night before a cruise. We were fortunate both times in that our flights got in at around noon, so we were on the beach between 1 - 1:30PM. As others mentioned, it is near the airport and during the day we did hear jets, but it didn't bother us. We didn't hear any at night but our rooms were ocean view the first time and ocean front the second time. When checking out to go to the cruise terminal, it's very easy to get a taxi. There have been taxi's waiting out front both times. When we were checking out, the hotel employees asked if we needed a cab, then just asked where we were heading, so they were right there to load up as soon as we got out front. Very easy and only about 20 minutes to the cruise terminal. Beautiful hotel, it's clean, very reasonably priced, friendly staff, and that will be our "go to" any time we're in San Juan. LetsHaveFunInTheSun Posted March 20, 2019 #9 Share Posted March 20, 2019 My wife and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Condado Palm Inn & Suites in Condado just over the bridge from Old San Juan. It is a few miles away from the pier so you will need to get an uber or taxi, but the nightlife and restaurants are excellent. The hotel is just a block away from the beach and on the main drag (Ashford Ave). There are many casinos in the area as well. We stayed in the north tower on the 14th floor in a suite that was very large with a great ocean view. It also had a outside deck that we spent a lot of time on just people watching. They also had bicycles that you can take out for two hours at a time complementary to all guests. First come first served. I call Henry, the General directly and he hooked us up with a sweet room for well below the cheapest price that I could find. The hotel had a free continental breakfast which was a bonus. I hope this helps!

We got $25+ off the AAA rate. We were also on the north tower when we stayed and spent time on the balcony. It was nice to be able to hear the ocean after escaping from the cold northeast. LetsHaveFunInTheSun Posted March 22, 2019 #11 Share Posted March 22, 2019 If you stay, pay the extra to get one of the ocean view suites. It is very large with a great view. Not basic at all. Definitely worth the extra!
