Pigeon Beach

The ship will be anchored in Falmouth Harbor. How easy is it to get to Pigeon Beach?  Is there any other beach near by that would be better?

How safe is it at Pigeon Beach (traveling solo)?  Best way to get there?

Is there anything to do in the vicinity?

Can’t really find a lot for this area.

Traveling end of March

Thanks

Luv my furbaby,

First of all, the area around English and Falmouth Harbour is very safe.  We stayed in the area several weeks and have never had issues. You can walk to Pigeon Beach from where tender drops you off, about 1.2km,  15-20 minute walk with a bit of an up and down on a small hill.  Once there, there are no chairs but some trees for shade. The beach is not that crowded, although on Sundays there are more locals who come to barbecue on the beach.  The beach is very safe.  There are 2 restaurants, one is less formal at the East end of the beach and one is trendier at the other end in the shade called Catherine Café Plage (very nice).  Prior or after going to the beach, you can visit Nelson’s Dockyards which nearby or take a cab up the hill to take the view at Shirley Heights.  Again if you are there on a Sunday, Shirley Heights hosts a huge barbecue that’s starts in the afternoon and lasts through the night. Lots of fun with several bands playing, beer flowing and BBQ ribs grillin’.  I believe it’s US$10 to get in.  If you feel more adventurous, you can rent a car (US$60) or take a cab and go to the almost deserted Half Moon Bay Beach. No chairs but a small restaurant with some great rose wine.
