EWR Hotel to Manhattan

Hi All!

We're cruising on Adventurer of the Seas from Port Liberty in early June. Our plan is to stay at a Newark airport hotel before the cruise and travel into Manhattan on the day before the cruise. We have Some questions for the group:

1. What hotel would you recommend? We will be traveling with another couple and looking for something with airport shuttle and walking distance to a bar/restaurant.

2. How would you suggest getting from the hotel into Manhattan?

3. How do you recommend getting from the hotel to the cruise port?

Thanks in advance!

1). What is your hotel budget including tax per room?  Very few hotels are within walking distance to any bar/restaurant that is not a bar/restaurant in another hotel.

2). Where are you going in Manhattan?

3). Uber

Not to nitpick but it's ADVENTURE of the Seas and CAPE Liberty.  Port Liberte is different, it' sin Jersey City and it's a ferry terminal.

That said...

Your best bets for hotel shuttles and places to eat would be to stay at one of these hotels listed under Newark/Elizabeth on International Boulevard:

Courtyard by Marriott EWR/Elizabeth

Residence Inn EWR/Elizabeth

Embassy Suites EWR

Country Inn & Suites EWR

There's a Ruby Tuesday in the parking lot adjacent, as well as an iHOP.  There's a food court and a couple restaurants in Jersey Gardens across the street (SOMETIMES the shuttle will take you there).  There is really nothing in that mall though if you've forgotten anything or want to buy wine.

Take an Uber/Lyft to the pier.

If you stay at the airport, it will cost $13/pp each way to go to midtown Manhattan on the train from the Newark Airport Station plus will take an hour plus from your hotel. If you stay at the Hilton Penn Station it will cost $5.25/pp each way and take about a half hour plus depending on the scheduled train times.  Uber from an EWR hotel to Newark Penn Station can be cost effective with 4 people.
