Komodo island

Recommended Posts

Barbara - I have been approached by a private tour company with an offer - but I do note that P&O says that you cant get off except on a ship tour. We have experienced this before with other cruiselines visiting St Petersburg in Russia. What they say is true - but it is not the whole truth. In St Petersburg you need to have your own visa or get one from the ship -- BUT you can also get one through a private tour company. Then they try to say that nobody can go ashore until all shore tours have departed. It is all a trick to get people to buy their shore tours. So what is the full deal regarding Komodo Island?

Our experience is with Holland America.  We used private tours in both St. Petersburg, Russia and on Komodo Island.  The private tour operators provided all needed paperwork.

Ship shore excursions do get to leave the ship first.  Yes, the ship wants you to buy their tours.  :)

You need to verify what your cruise line will allow.  Good luck.
