Watching football on the cruise

Next cruise is in the fall, during football season. I know they have ESPN/2 in the sports bar. Do they get any Fox stations? Or possibly the Sunday ticket??

Anyone have experience with this, or do I just need to suck it up?

I know, I know, it's time to get away, but I enjoy my football!

I cruised in December (after the Saints played on a Thursday night so I wouldn’t miss a Saints game). It was on the Dream out of New Orleans. It seemed like we got the games you would’ve gotten in the Miami area because the dolphins were on. We also had the rams @ lions early game and the national game of the week which was...the Vikings and...Bears I want to say.

Carnival had Sunday Ticket last season so you could watch any game you wanted on Sunday IF you could get the bartender to turn on the game (locations varied based on the ship). When we were on Miracle in December, they showed every game played on Sunday in the SkyBox Sports Bar.

College football is a diiferent story. Carnival no longer gets the major networks, so any game shown on ABC, NBC, FOX or CBS was not available on the ship. I was on two cruises on Saturdays during the Fall and there were a lot of upset people who couldn’t watch team X play because it was on a major network. Right now the only sports channels available on Carnival are ESPN, ESPN 2, SEC Network, and I think ESPNU if my memory is correct.  Last year they also had FS1, but Carnival no longer carries that station.

If true it's seriously dumb that they made it sound like they were limited to two games when they could've put every casino bar TV on a different game at noon.

I feel your pain.  We will be cruising next week when all of the conference championship basketball games are played.  Your best bet is the sports bar.  I would go prepared with a list of games with dates, times and channels.  Check with the bartender on day one to find out which channels they get.  Take what you can get.  Set your DVR up at home if possible.

Very True!!  and not carrying the SEC Network on board is a direct violation of both Federal and International Law!!😀

Good thing Carnival carries the SEC Network.  Would hate to see Carnival break any laws 😊

Ha!

I won't schedule a cruise until I know our football schedule. My niece got married on the Dream a few years ago while it was docked in Port Canaveral. We didn't have a game that day so we attended the wedding and got off the ship before it sailed. Didn't go on the cruise because we had a game before the Dream would return. I'm not missing a game. 😀

ha, like mizzou is actually sec.

jk, but seriously I caught college football at the red frog 2 years ago but I seem to remember their channel contracts changed last year so I think it will depend on what channel it's on.

  • 3 months later...

I'm starting to get rattled. I will be cruising out of Mobile, Alabama over the Labor Day weekend, and if I can't watch the TIDE ROLL, then I may have a melt down and spiral into a depression. it is my prayer that the SEC FOOTBALL GODS broadcast all the games throughout the ship!!!! #NoBetterConference
