We'll be spending one night in Buenos Aires at the end of our cruise in January 2020, before flying out to Iguazu Falls the next morning.  A Tuesday night if that makes a difference.  We're are looking for mid-range hotel recommendations, in the Casa Rosada to Recoleta area.  Thanks very much!

Post cruise, we dropped our bags and then went to Iguazu for 2 nights, returned for one night at the Howard Johnson Hotel Boutique Recoleta.  Small hotel in an area with business and government buildings.  Close to the Recoleta mall. 4 blocks from the Recoleta cemetery and several good restaurants. We walked to a restaurant in the evening and felt safe. The hotel is new.  The room was large and very nice. We paid about $125 per night, including breakfast. The hotel was nicer that some accomodations that we have paid twice that amount for.  Would stay there again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Recoleta. (one caution, there was some sidewalk construction on our walk to the restaurant, so probably not doable for wheelchairs or walkers)

We stayed at the Arc Recoleta in January, pre-cruise.  We really liked it for location, amenities, price.  I'm sure you will get lots of recommendations for a variety of hotels.

We stayed at Mio Buenos Aires and enjoyed it.  We walked over before breakfast (there breakfast is pretty good) to the cemetery which was a 5 min walk.  It opens at 7am and we enjoyed it all by ourselves for an hour.   AEP airport was only a $5 ride away!  We did the reverse in Jan, the falls and BA for one night before our cruise.  We easily walked to Floralis Generica/Art musuem from there which took about 15 min.

The Recoleta Sofitel is used by Princess and in a nice area.  On my last night I stayed at the EZE Holiday Inn to be at the airport for 6:30am the next morning. it was very comfortable with a free shuttle and an excellent steakhouse next to it. I realize this is not what you need, but others might find it useful.

We stayed at the Sofitel Ricoleta hotel for both pre and post stays for our Iguazu Falls excursion. Very nice and quiet hotel.

Flights to Iguazu are out of the domestic airport which is about 20 minutes away. International airport is about 1 hour away, more if traffic is bad.

Anything in the Ricoleta district will be a nice stay.

In 2015 we also stayed at the Howard Johnson Boutique Hotel in Recoleta, and liked it very much.

Earlier this year we stayed at the Alvear Art Hotel.  While the hotel lobby and restaurants are lovely, we thought that the Alvear Art is over priced.  Our room had some issues with its electrical system.
